Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Portugal U19 ace Pedro Brazao’s agent as they weigh up a move for the teenage Nice attacker.
But Jurgen Klopp’s side face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona for the 17-year-old winger.
Liverpool have already made two acquisitions since New Year, with attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino having arrived from RB Salzburg, and striker Joe Hardy joining the U23s from Brentford.
And the Reds could be poised to bring in a third new recruit if they can beat their rivals in the race to land highly-rated Brazao.
After reports appeared last week that Liverpool were considering a swoop, French media outlet Foot Mercato has claimed that both the Reds and PSG have already contacted Pedro’s representatives over a possible transfer.
However, he is contracted to Nice until June of 2022, so the ball is in the French side’s court over whether or not they want to sell.
The technically gifted Portuguese is a left attacker but can also play on the right wing or as an attacking midfielder.
After progressing with his side’s under-19s, Brazao joined the club’s senior set-up in the pre-season campaign and earned a decent amount of game time, suggesting he was nearing his breakthrough into the senior team.
He has thus far made just one substitute appearance this term, but according to the reports coming out of the country, it appears Liverpool are hoping to yet again steal a march on their rivals by snapping the star up early.
And they will hope to be similarly ahead of the match if they choose to swoop for Pedro, who has two caps for Portugal Under-19s.
