Liverpool are keen on signing Real Betis centre-back Aissa Mandi on a free transfer this summer transfer window, according to a report from La Razon.

The 29-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the campaign and he could move on to pastures new.

This latest update claims that the Reds want to ‘take advantage’ of the situation, strengthening Jurgen Klopp’s defensive options in the process.

His future is described as a ‘mystery’ currently, as the Algeria international weighs up his future options.

Aissa is a player with a vast amount of experience, so the star could be a shrewd addition this summer. Not only that but to snap Mandi up for free means Klopp would not be delving far into any transfer funds available.

He has started 18 of Real Betis’ league matches this season, netting three goals, and Mandi’s versatility means he can also fill in at full-back on either wing if required.

It is certainly a situation to monitor, particularly with the injury-prone Cameroonian defender Joel Matip increasingly looking like someone who can not be trusted over sustained periods.

Aissa is only winning an average of 1.6 aerial duels per match in La Liga this season, however, which may work against him, considering Liverpool allegedly wanting an aerially-dominant central defender.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are interested in landing rumoured Liverpool target Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The 29-year-old star has been linked with a transfer to Anfield in the past, but a reported transfer is yet to come to fruition.

He continues to thrive for Napoli, but it is understood that Bayern will attempt to tempt him to the Allianz Arena this summer.

The Bundesliga side have reportedly made an offer for the player, although their €45 million valuation of Kalidou is seen as too low by Napoli.
