Sadio Mane is reportedly overtaking Kylian Mbappe as Real Madrid’s top striking target in the summer.
Frustrated at the Parisians refusing to negotiate over French World Cup winner Kylian, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit’s boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be leaning towards the Reds’ £131m-rated Mane.
And it is understood only Real Madrid could tempt the lightning-fast Senegal international to exit Anfield.
France Football has already stated the 28-year-old was unhappy at Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp pushing the Reds team-mate Virgil van Dijk for the Ballon d’Or award ahead of him.
Now, Le10sport say Zinedine’s thoughts are drifting towards a huge bid for Sadio in the next transfer window – then a move for the PSG forward in the summer of 2021.
Los Blancos reportedly first made contact over Sadio last July, trying to see if he would consider departing the newly-crowned kings of Europe.
And a year later, Zidane’s need for a replacement to France forward Karim Benzema is more pressing.
The Reds are keen to keep Mane after his explosive form replaced that of Mohamed Salah as their top man in the final third.
But Jurgen Klopp has stepped up interest in RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner, whose release clause is around £52 million.
The 24-year-old Germany international has publicly revealed he would prefer moving abroad rather than sign for Bayern Munich.
And the Reds remain favourites to sign him at some stage, in spite of reports today saying the Chelsea target is now weighing up the merits of Inter Milan.
