Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani will be hoping to make his debut for the Red Devils against former club Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after taking part in his first training session with the club.

The Uruguayan joined United on deadline day as a free agent following his departure from the Parisians at the end of last season.

Covid-19 protocols meant Edinson was forced into a two-week isolation period following his move, meaning he was unable to make his debut in Saturday’s win over Newcastle.

However, Edinson was able to participate in training on Sunday after a fortnight in quarantine and the South American was welcomed to the club by teammate Nemanja Matic.

‘Welcome to the Manchester United family,’ wrote the Serb, before tagging Cavani in the post.

The 33-year-old has not played a single minute of football since March and he is unlikely to start in Paris given his long lay-off.

However, he has clearly kept himself in good shape and he’s released a host of workout videos on his social media channels showcasing as much.

The club have Anthony Martial available for the match in the French capital, as he’s one match into a three-game PL suspension.

However, Cavani was reportedly desperate to join the English giants after the Champions League draw as it meant he could face his former club.

Despite being Paris Saint-Germain’s record scorer, relations between Edinson and the club soured by the end of his time in Paris.

He was unhappy with a lack of playing time under Thomas Tuchel and he refused to feature in the UCL knockout stages after a dispute over extending his deal.
