A proposal from Manchester United has been presented to La Liga giants Barcelona by super-agent Jorge Mendes, according to the latest reports.
And that’s because the English giants remain keen on signing Ansu Fati.
The Spaniard has made a flying start to the new season and is yet to sign a new contract over at the club.
Mendes’ influence at the Premier League heavyweights has somewhat waned in recent years.
He once had a plethora of clients at United but now has none, with David De Gea parting company with the Portuguese supremo back in the summer.
In spite of that, however, he still has connections with the club’s senior figures. He helped broker the deal that saw Bruno Fernandes transfer to Old Trafford in January.
And now, Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo say that an offer from United has been presented to Blaugrna regarding a potential deal for Fati.
The 17-year-old has netted three goals from four La Liga outings thus far and also found the net in Barcelona’s 5-1 UCL win over Ferencvaarosi TC on Tuesday night.
It’s claimed United are ready to make Fati one of the most expensive players in world football, with a sum of around £135 million mooted.
But Barcelona reportedly are not concerned, still thinking the teenager will sign a bumper fresh contract in Catalonia.
Fati’s current deal at Camp Nou expires in 2024, meaning the La Liga side are under no pressure to sell.
And it looks like United may have to accept defeat unless the attacker actively makes it known he wants a move to Old Trafford.
