Manchester United made an attempt for the landing of Vasco da Gama youngster Talles Magno this transfer window, according to claims from Brazil.
Journalist Jorge Nicola says that in the final weeks of the transfer market, the Red Devils made an approach saying the club could spend as much as €15 million on young talent from abroad.
Vasco da Gama, Talles Magno and his entourage Carlos Leite all liked the possibility.
The club pushed for €10 million more in performance bonuses, attempting to make the deal reach up to €25 million.
Manchester United did not carry on with the negotiations, and a bid was never made official, despite the Brazilian club’s need to negotiate the winger’s exit.
Hee is one of the best Brazilian talents of his generation, and according to Jorge Nicola, Jurgen Kloop’s Liverpool have also made an approach for Magno’s signing this year.
Meantime, Ryan Giggs has backed new acquisition Edinson Cavani to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Youtube channel Webby and O’Neill, he said: “I faced Cavani in my second game for Wales and he was better than Luis Suarez in the game. I didn’t think he was that good.
“He was a real handful. He hasn’t played for a long time so he might be a little bit rusty, but you’re getting a proper centre forward who can lead the line, which a lot of fans have been crying out for.
“We have Marcus (Rashford), (Anthony) Martial who is half a winger, half a centre-forward. Cavani is a forward, a target man. He’s got the experience. I’m hoping, just like Bruno has, he will make the players around him even better.”
