Newcastle United are poised to launch a January move for Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams, with the talent set to be made available for loan.

Boss Steve Bruce is hoping to pull strings at his former side and win the transfer race for the highly-rated 20-year-old ace.

Newcastle are keeping tabs on the situation, and Bruce will use his strong rapport with former United team-mate Mike Phelan and current United chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to get the rumoured deal done, as report Chronicle Live.

The Magpies will be rivaled by Ralph Hasenhuttl’s high-flying Southampton, who currently sit sixth in the top-flight after 10 matches played.

Defensive arrivals at United in the summer, including the likes of the Brazil international Alex Telles, has seen Brandon pushed down the pecking order.

The youngster was set to be retained this campaign for cup competitions and has featured twice in the EFL Cup along with one appearance in the UCL.

Yet with just one PL outing to his name so far this term, the Red Devils are keen to get the talent playing regular domestic football at elite level.

The club have made clear to all interested clubs that Williams is only available for a ‘dry’ loan deal, without any additional purchase options.

United hold their local star in high regard and see the player as a big talent for the future at the club.

Williams’ current contract with United runs until June 2024, after the defender signed a lucrative extension in August of this year.
