Manchester United are reportedly going to have to splash out at least £51 million (€60 million) if they want to land Juventus and Portugal defender Joao Cancelo in summer.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements this summer window considering how the backline have faired this season.
The club have the worst defensive record out of any side in the top six, a factor that has played a huge part in the side’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
It seems like Manchester United are well aware of how much they need to strengthen their defensive options in the coming months.
According to Calcio Mercato, the club are leading the race to land Cancelo this summer, with Gazette Dello Sport claiming via Calcio Mercato, Juventus have told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co that they are going to need to pay at least £51 million (€60 million) if they want to land the player.
Given the fact that defender Antonio Valencia is set to depart the club at the end of the campaign according to the Independent, it looks wise for the Red Devils to be in the transfer market for a new right back.
Joao has also proven during his spells with Valencia, Inter Milan and now Juventus that he has what it takes to compete versus some of Europe’s best clubs, something that means he will be able to cope with the pressure of playing in England.
In other news, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have lodged an offer in the hope of landing Manchester United star David de Gea, according to French journalist Geoffroy Garetier.
“Paris Saint-Germain are seeking a world-class goalkeeper now more than ever. The club have made an offer for David de Gea,” Geoffroy said, as shown in a clip on Late Football Club’s official Twitter account.
