According to the Daily Express via French newspaper and TV channel L’Equipe, Manchester United are keen on signing 18-year-old AS Monaco starlet Benoit Badiashile.
It’s said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to prioritise the landing of a centre-half after adding Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James to his roster so far this summer.
The report highlights that Red Devils haven’t completely lost long-standing interest in England international Harry Maguire, however, Manchester United aren’t keen on meeting Leicester City’s mammoth £80 million asking price for the Three Lions star.
The club also cooled interest in West Ham talent Issa Diop earlier this summer after the Hammers board demanded around £50 million for the Frenchman.
Benoit is a much more cost-effective acquisition for the Manchester outfit, it’s understood that AS Monaco value the star at €35 million (£31.5m), the youngster showed promise for the French outfit last season.
The club will have to battle with one of their EPL rivals to land the talent’s signature though, according to Birmingham Live via L’Equipe, Wolverhampton Wanderers are eyeing a loan-to-buy deal for the highly-rated youngster.
Badiashile made 24 matches for AS Monaco across all competitions last campaign as the French side narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight.
Benoit – of Congolese decent, looks every bit like a modern centre-half. The 18-year-old defender is very athletic and he has also shown that he is very comfortable on the ball and it is obvious to see that the youngster likes to play out from the defence – something that will excite Manchester United fans.
