Manchester United have made an official enquiry to sign one of the Serie A’s hottest talents, the player could be the answer to solving the Red Devils’ worrying defensive problems.
According to an Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (Sky Sports Italia), EPL giants Manchester United have enquired about the landing of Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
The report claims that the Old Trafford side made contact with the Viola two days ago regarding a swoop for Milenkovic.
The Serbian star was heavily linked with a move the United in January, the report adds that the Red Devils had a €40 million bid for the star rejected.
It is understood that the Italian club valued the versatile defender at €50 million (£45 million) at the time.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a massive rebuild on his hands in the summer and the key problem that the Norwegian needs to address is the Red Devils’ embarrassing defence.
The club leaked goals last campaign and a quality centre-back is required this summer if the Manchester heavyweights have any hopes of being successful next campaign.
Nikola split his duties between centre-half and right-back last campaign, the 21-year-old star was very impressive for his side and the fact that he has 14 caps for his country to his name already – suggest that he is a big talent.
United simply can not go into another campaign with the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones still being important first-team stars, signing a centre-half should be a priority for the Red Devils management.
