Manchester City have allegedly decided against making a swoop for Aston Villa captain and long-term Manchester United target Jack Grealish this summer.
The England playmaker enjoyed another stellar season before being sidelined with a shin injury, netting six goals and setting up 12 more for Dean Smith’s team in the current Premier League season.
Jack was tipped to complete a move to either Manchester City or Manchester United last summer, but the midfielder instead elected to pen a new deal with Villa, where the player is now under contract until June 2025.
The Etihad Stadium continues to be mentioned as a potential destination for Grealish in the 2021-22 term, but The Mirror claims that Pep Guardiola’s side will not be following up their interest in the 25-year-old United-linked star.
The report suggests that City are not ready to fork out a nine-figure sum for Jack this summer, as the Spaniard has admitted that landing a big-money replacement for the departing Sergio Aguero could be “impossible”.
However, the same outlet has stated that Guardiola is still determined to bring Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland to the Etihad in the summer transfer market, and a move for Die Borussen man would scupper any hopes of securing Jack’s services.
