The agent of Napoli forward Dries Mertens has flirted with the idea of a switch to the Premier League for his client amid links with Manchester United.
An Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb (via MilanNews.it) recently noted that Dries’ contract with Napoli will expire in June, with a renewal at the moment seems not on the cards.
The report added that the situation has also drawn the interest of both Milan clubs, who could make an attempt to land him on a pre-contract deal after the January transfer window.
However, Dries has also been linked with the Red Devils, as well as north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur – who have reportedly held negotiations with his entourage already.
Now, his agent Federico Pastorello has admitted that Mertens may leave the Naples-based outfit and head to England.
“He has proven himself in the Champions League because he scored in that competition and the national team,” Federico told Sky Sports News.
“I think a player like that, out of contract is an amazing opportunity, even maybe for January.
“Every player really wants to play in the Premier League at least once. So I think he would be very happy to play in the Premier League.
“I know him very well tactically and technically and I think he can be a successful player for the Premier League.”
The 32-year-old star has 117 goals and 69 assists in 300 competitive matches for the Partenopei.
Meantime, the Red Devils have to act quickly if they want to bring in Mauricio Pochettino due to the fact that Everton have reportedly approached the South American regarding the vacant managerial position at Goodison Park.
Amad Diallo Traore joined Serie A side Atalanta’s academy back in 2015 and after having impressed for the youth side, he was given an opportunity in the senior team in October.
He made his debut versus fellow Serie A outfit Udinese and it took him four minutes to net his first goal in the top-flight.
Last month, Sport Witness carried a report from an Italian media outlet Calciomercato, who explained Manchester City have joined Juventus in the transfer hunt for the 17-year-old ace.
TuttoMercatoWeb now claims the Red Devils have followed the young winger for months and their rumoured interest has been sufficient enough for the club to start asking for information about the player.
It’s stated Manchester United would ‘like to buy’ the talent in the next window. Meantime, Atalanta are not sure on a valuation.
There would be no problem if the Italians receive around €40m for him, yet TMW adds even €15-20m may be enough for the Bergamo-based club.
Amad Diallo Traore managed 18 goals and 13 assists while playing for Atalanta’s youth team last season.
He’s clearly a talent, but dragging Red Devils and Citizens into the equation could be as much about hype as anything else.
Meantime, Manchester United have reportedly registered interest in signing Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain star Leandro Paredes ahead of the January transfer market.
The Argentine, who transferred to the Parisians from Zenit Saint Petersburg in January, has failed to nail down a starting place under Thomas Tuchel, managing just four starts in the top-flight this term.
Manchester United are interested in landing Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes in the January transfer market – according to reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is open to strengthening his squad in the New Year and reports in Argentina suggest the Parisians’ star is on his radar.
The 25-year-old star joined the French champions back in the winter from Zenit St. Petersburg but has struggled to cement a place in the side since his £36 million move from Russia.
The arrival of Idrissa Gana Gueye in the summer pushed Leandro further down the pecking order and the Argentine outlet El Intransigente claim United are interested in bringing the player to Old Trafford.
The report claims Ole believes Paredes’ lack of game time under Thomas Tuchel means the star could be persuaded to cut short his stay in France and move to the PL.
MEN Sport understand the United manager is keen to stick to his recruitment strategy of bringing in young, home grown talents such as Jadon Sancho and James Maddison.
Elsewhere, reports in Italy claim the Reds are lining up a swoop for Atalanta youngster Amad Diallo Traore.
The 17-year-old ace has stole the headlines in the UEFA Youth League this campaign, scoring against Manchester City in the group stages.
His displays have attracted the attention of both Juventus and City as per reports and Tuttomercato claim United have joined the fray for his signature.
The report claims the Old Trafford outfit have contacted the Italian club about the youngster’s availability.
Traore made his Serie A debut versus Udinese back in October and scored in spite of spending just 13 minutes on the pitch.
