Marcos Rojo is allegedly heading back to England to resume training with parent side Manchester United.
The 30-year-old defender re-joined Estudiantes on loan during the January transfer market after struggling to secure regular action at the Red Devils in the first half of the season.
Rojo only made one appearance for the South American outfit before the coronavirus outbreak halted play, though, and the former Sporting CP ace’s loan deal has now expired.
Boca Juniors have been strongly mentioned with the Argentina international, who still has one year left to run on his deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
However, according to TyC, the Red Devils have thus far not accepted any proposals for the versatile defender, who is now set to return to Premier League to link up with United.
The report states that Estudiantes have not given up hope of landing Rojo, with the South American reportedly due to hold talks with the club over his future upon his return.
The 20-time English champions are thought to value the tough-tackling central defender in the region of £15 million.
Meanwhile, Manchester United pair Alexis Sanchez and Chris Smalling have extended their loan deals at Inter Milan and Roma respectively.
Both stars had been due to return to Old Trafford at the start of this month, but a statement on the English side’s official website has confirmed that the duo will finish the 2019-20 Serie A season at Roma and Inter.
“Manchester United pair Chris Smalling and Alexis Sanchez will both see out the remainder of the 2019/20 domestic campaign in Italy, after the decision was made to extend their loan contracts with Roma and Inter Milan respectively,” read the statement from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Former Aston Villa head coach Tim Sherwood claims Manchester United have already agreed a deal to land Jack Grealish this summer.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this campaign, thanks in no small part to his fantastic form with the Villa.
Grealish has scored nine goals across all competitions for his boyhood club and the club’s chances of keeping the player look slim, even if they retain their position in the PL.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Jack following the midfielder’s stunning goal at Old Trafford in December and the head coach wants to add even more creativity to his midfield following the singing of the Portugal international Bruno Fernandes in January.
The pandemic has created uncertainty about how the summer transfer window will play out but Sherwood, who managed Jack during his time at Villa Park, claims a summer deal has already been reached for the star to move to Old Trafford.
‘I think Jack Grealish is a deal which is already done,’ Tim told Premier League Productions. ‘He’s a player that they [Manchester United] need. I honestly believe there’s only one club for Jack Grealish.
Pushed further on his claim, Tim said it was inevitable that Grealish would switch to the Theatre of Dreams. ‘I don’t think he can stay at Aston Villa, he needs to progress his career. I think he signs for Manchester United.’
United’s priority remains Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho but the Red Devils are refusing to meet the Bundesliga side’s £100m valuation of the midfielder.
According to The Daily Express, as relayed by Sky Sports, Matteo may be about to leave the club after angering manager Mikel Arteta with his attitude.
The 21-year-old star, who joined Arsenal from French Ligue 2 outfit Lorient in 2018, started his career in the famed PSG academy before moving to the Stade du Moustoir.
The Gunners are planning to offload the unwanted Frenchman to clubs in swap deals as Mikel is aware he will be strapped for cash this summer.
Guendouzi hasn’t played for Arsenal since a controversial incident versus Brighton last month.
However, the midfielder has drawn attention from La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Arsenal willing to sell after a clash with Neal Maupay.
Despite his antics, Matteo has played 24 games in the Premier League for Mikel’s side this season.
While some supporters may be shocked by United’s interest, it is easy to said why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering a swoop for the £36m-valued ace.
Nemanja Matic is the club’s only recognised holding midfielder at the moment, which is a major cause for concern.
On the other hand, Matteo is still at the early stages of his professional career, and he has been compared to midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who was also linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
Ole could actually kill two birds with one stone and use Chris Smalling as part of a swap for the talent, as the north Londoners are desperate to sign a defender this summer.
