Italian giants in further talks regarding contract offer for Man Utd ace Chong

Inter Milan have held further talks over a contract offer for the Manchester United ace Tahith Chong.

The 20-year-old winger is out of contract in the summer and is struggling to agree to terms at the Old Trafford outfit.

He is also wanted by Juventus and Barcelona, and the Serie A heavyweights will propose a five-year deal.

Chong moved to Old Trafford from Feyenoord back in 2016 but appears unwilling to pen new terms with the Premier League giants.

And his possible Italian suitors are thought to have held a series of meetings with Tahith’s agent, with further talks held on Tuesday.

The starlet has made seven appearances for the United senior team this season, and also frequently features for the club’s reserves.

Inter are expected to confirm the landing of Victor Moses from Chelsea on Wednesday after he completed his medical.

Meantime, Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in negotiations with Manchester United over becoming the club’s new manager at the end of the 2019-20 term.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in charge of the club, but the team’s inconsistency this term means that his future at the club continues to be called into question.

United are only six points of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea with a game in hand, although they suffered their seventh division defeat of the season away to Liverpool on Sunday.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the 20-time English champions are in talks with Pochettino over the possibility of the South American replacing Solskjaer at the end of the season.

Argentine chief emerges as clear front-runner to take over at Man Utd

Manchester United chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s days in the Red Devils hotseat appear to be numbered after the side’s latest devastating setback last night.

The club slumped to a dismal 2-0 loss to lowly Sean Dyche’s Burnley on a disastrous night at home.

Goals from Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood condemned United to defeat, with supporters audibly turning on the ownership of the club.

Vile chants were directed at club chief Ed Woodward, but Solskjaer did not escape criticism.

The 46-year-old has incredibly now lost more league matches than he has won since being appointed permanent Red Devils manager and odds for him to be sacked have tumbled since the Clarets loss.

Ole is now just 8/15 to be sacked before the end of the term, and 6/1 to be dispensed with before the January 29th derby versus Manchester City.

And the speculations surrounding Mauricio Pochettino won’t go away.

The popular former Tottenham head coach has been out of work since being considering the boot by Spurs on 19 November.

Old Trafford senior figures are thought to be long-term admirers of the 47-year-old, who is the clear favourite for the post at Manchester United, should Solskjaer be sacked at odds of just 1-2.

In other news, according to the Daily Mail, Inter Milan have stolen a march on Barcelona and Juventus by holding fresh discussions and are now preparing to offer Manchester United ace Tahith Chong a five-year contract in the hope of tempting him to San Siro.

Chong, who has made 11 first-team appearances for his side in total, moved to Old Trafford from Dutch club Feyenoord in 2016.

Man Utd see first offer for €90,000-a-week Matias Vecino rejected

Manchester United have had a bid snubbed for Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino, according to the latest reports in Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been desperate to strengthen his midfield options this January and Vecino had been pinpointed as a possible short-term solution in the middle of the park, with Paul Pogba (ankle) and Scott McTominay (knee) both out injured.

Bruno Fernandes remains the club’s ideal long-term replacement for Pogba and Vecino – who plays in a deeper position – would have provided support for the likes of Nemanja Matic, McTominay and Fred.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, United’s opening loan bid for Vecino was swiftly turned down by Inter.

The Red Devils were confident over a deal after doing business with the Serie A giants for Ashley Young this winter. Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku also completed moves to Inter last summer.

The report states Inter are now considering a swap deal with Genaro Gattuso’s Napoli which could see Allan head to the San Siro in exchange for Matias.

Vecino has scored ten goals in 88 matches for Inter since €24million (£20.2m) move from Fiorentina back in the summer of 2017. The 28-year-old has been capped 41 times by his country’s national team.

United suffered one of their most miserable defeats of the campaign at home to Burnley last night and Ole promised fans that the club would be working on signings right up until the transfer deadline.

‘We are looking to improve, we have got our targets,’ the Norwegian manager told BT Sport following his side’s 2-0 loss at Old Trafford.
