Manchester United are targeting Valencia star Uros Racic, according to the latest reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already bolstered his midfield options with the £40 million signing of Donny van de Beek from Dutch side Ajax this summer.
But United have also been mentioned with a move for Thiago Alcantara, with Bayern Munich demanding a €30m (£27.6m) transfer fee for the Spain international.
The Red Devils, however, have been put off by the star’s wage demands, which are in excess of £200,000 per week.
According to The Sun, the club have now turned their attention to Los Che’s central midfielder Racic.
The 22-year-old star has made just two appearances for the Spanish outfit and has spent the last two season on loan at Tenerife and then at Portuguese outfit Famalicao.
Racic has a £92m exit clause in his deal with Valencia but The Sun reports that an offer of £28m from United could be enough to land him.
The Serb, who is yet to be capped by the senior team, stands at 6ft 4in and offers a powerful presence in midfield.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Racic’s displays and the 22-year-old could provide competition for Nemanja Matic in Ole’s midfield.
Meanwhile, United’s hopes of landing Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes next month continue to fade as Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that the attacker will not be leaving.
The club could now turn to a loan deal for Gareth Bale, with Real Madrid want the Wales international to leave the club.
Reports have suggested that Gareth would be open to joining United, although the 31-year-old’s £600,000 per week salary could prove to be a stumbling block as the Galacticos would need to fund part of his wages.
Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Sergio Reguilon from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to sign a new left-back before the end of the transfer window and Sergio, along with Porto’s Alex Telles, have both been linked with transfers to Old Trafford.
However, Marca report that United have intensified their talks with Real Madrid over a deal for Sergio and a move is now believed to be close.
The report claims that the Red Devils will pay around €25 million (£23m) to sign the star but Madrid are still insisting on having an option which will allow them to re-sign the Spaniard within two seasons.
United, however, are said to be against having any kind of buy-back clause in their deal for Sergio.
Marca also report that United’s board have already stressed to Reguilon’s new representative, Kia Joorabchian, that the star will be a key part of their plans.
He is currently recovering at Los Blancos’ training complex after suffering an ankle injury during his country’s win over Ukraine earlier this month.
Reguilon impressed during his loan stint with Sevilla last season and helped the Spanish club win the UEL.
But he is not in Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the upcoming season because Marcelo and Ferland Mendy are his two variants at left-back.
Sevilla are also keen on re-signing Sergio, while Tottenham have also expressed an interest.
Meanwhile, Porto have lowered their asking price for defender Alex Telles and would now accept an offer of €20 million (£18.5m) for the Brazilian.
Alex Telles’ contract with the Dragons is due to expire at the end of the season and the Portuguese side do not want the 27-year-old to leave on a free transfer.
Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is open to a loan transfer to Manchester United this summer as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer targets an alternative to Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.
The 20-year-old ace has been United’s priority target throughout the transfer market but the Red Devils have failed to convince Dortmund to lower their £108 million asking price.
With just three weeks left of the transfer market, United have little time left to convince BVB to part with the former Manchester City star and that’s led Ole to review alternative options.
Douglas Costa and Ivan Perisic have both been mentioned with a move but Bale is believed to be the club’s leading target if they cannot convince Dortmund to sell Jadon.
United have tried to land Bale on at least three occasions in the last decade but he opted to join Madrid when he left Tottenham in 2013 and he twice snubbed a move to Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
However, he is surplus to requirements under Zinedine Zidane and the board are desperate to get his £600,000 per week wages off the books.
Bale was keen to stay put last year but with two years left on his contract this summer, he’s now accepted that his future lies away from the Galacticos.
According to the Times, he’s open to joining the Red Devils on a season-long loan deal as he’s keen on a return to the PL.
United would want Madrid to cover at least half of his wages but the 31-year-old would be keen on a move to Old Trafford if Los Blancos agree to it.
