According to the Daily Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have been given the green light to land Lyon star Moussa Dembele for £60 million this summer.

The 23-year-old has scored 39 goals in 82 matches since joining Lyon from Celtic in a £20 million deal in 2018.

The Frenchman has impressed this term, scoring 19 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions for Lyon.

Chelsea have also been mentioned with the 23-year-old striker, but the Red Devils are confident of being able to beat Chelsea by handing Dembele a more lucrative deal of around £150,000 per week, adds the report.

The Red Devils have struggled to net goals this season, with the failure to sign Romelu Lukaku’s successor in the summer coming back to haunt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The mistake has been exposed even more in the latest weeks following the absence of Marcus Rashford.

Marcus is the club’s top scorer with 17 goals in all competitions but goals for Solskjaer’s side have dried up in his absence.

The Red Devils have failed to score in their last three PL games, that has seen them lose ground in the race for Top 4, with Tottenham and Sheffield United moving above the fellow English club in the table.

Solskjaer brought in Odion Ighalo on loan during the January transfer market, but he’ll return to parent club Shanghai Shenhua at the end of this season.

Now, the United manager has made the signing of a striker a priority in the summer and Moussa Dembele would be a good fit at Manchester United.
