Ajax youngster Donny van de Beek has rejected the chance to sign for Manchester United and will instead join Real Madrid at the end of the term.

That’s according to De Telegraaf who say that Netherlands international will join up with Los Blancos this summer in a deal worth €50 million.

Donny came to prominence during last campaign’s Champions League, where his remarkable energy and eye for a pass helped lead Ajax to the semi-finals.

The 22-year-old star was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford during last summer’s transfer market but ultimately stayed at Ajax for one more season.

United have gone back in for the attacking midfielder this month and were prepared to pay Ajax’s relatively low asking price.

However, De Telegraaf say that Donny has rejected the chance to play in the PL and will instead head to Santiago Bernabeu, as manager Zinedine Zidane looks to lower the average age of his roster.

This deal could also have an effect on France international Paul Pogba’s future, who has been eyeing a move to Real Madrid for a year now.

Whether the La Liga giants would have the cash available to sign both Donny and Paul, as well as try and bring Kylian Mbappe to the capital – as has been heavily touted – remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer Birmingham City £15m for youngster Jude Bellingham.

The 16-year-old – regarded as one of the best youngsters in English football – has netted four times in 24 Championship appearances for his side during the 2019-20 campaign.
