Dwight Yorke has told Manchester United to sign Kalidou Koulibaly and says the Napoli star would be ‘perfect’ for his former club.
Senegal defender Koulibaly is considered one of the best centre-backs in world football and is valued at £90 million by Italian outfit Napoli.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for Koulibaly for the past 18 months and Yorke thinks he would be the ‘perfect’ long-term partner for the England international Harry Maguire.
Dwight told Stadium Astro: ‘Without a doubt I think he’s one that everyone is after and if Manchester United are going to make some big signings like they always do, I would definitely [sign him] if we can afford him then why not?
‘I think he is the perfect fit to come into centre-half alongside Maguire, that would be awesome to have him there and suddenly we look a proper team then, with the likes of Pogba and Bruno and one of the holding midfielders and the front three forwards as I mentioned.
‘We become a team who suddenly everybody will be fearing.’ Dwight, who won three PL titles and the UCL with Manchester United, added:
‘If I was Ole or in Ole’s position, I would be persuading to get him because I know how important [it is] to have another centre-half of his quality alongside Maguire.’
The Red Devils secured an emphatic 3-0 victory against Brighton on Tuesday night and are now just two points behind Frank Lampard’s Chelsea after their defeat to West Ham United.
