Dean Henderson should look to go out on loan once again next season and avoid returning to parent club Manchester United as he will not get senior team opportunities at Old Trafford, believes Paul Ince.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has been thoroughly impressive on loan at Sheffield United over the last two campaigns, starring as they gained promotion from the EFL Championship last year and again in the PL this campaign.

Henderson has kept 10 league clean sheets this season, with only Burnley star Nick Pope keeping more (11) and that has led to some suggestions that he is prepared to take over from David de Gea as the first choice stopper at Manchester United.

Former United midfielder Ince doesn’t think the Englishman should take on that battle just yet, believing David is still going to be donning the gloves for some years to come and Dan is much better off playing football elsewhere.

‘He has been excellent and excelled himself and he is still relatively young,’ Paul told Goal of Henderson.

‘When someone does well on loan then you begin to think can they do a job for Manchester United. I think at the moment keepers need to be more experienced. He should be happy, he is playing football week in, week out.

‘If he goes to Manchester United and sits on the bench like [Sergio] Romero has done for years, then it isn’t good. If he plays week in, week out then his time will come.’
