Manchester United are weighing up a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, who could be available on a free transfer in the summer.

Reports from Le Quotidien du Foot this week says that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the Belgian right-back as a potential signing.

The 28-year-old star has other admirers – German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and Italian outfit AC Milan.

It appears unlikely that the Parisians will be extending Meunier’s contract to remain at the club beyond the completion of the 2019-20 season.

But if Thomas joined Solskjaer’s Old Trafford revolution, the star may find the first-team action hard to come by.

One of Ole’s first moves last summer at United was to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal from PL rivals Crystal Palace but the possible arrival of Meunier would surely bolster the club’s strength in depth.

Meunier played 25 times for the Paris-based outfit before the 2019-20 season was halted due to coronavirus, netting once.

The same publication says that the Parisians want to sign Juventus right-back Mattia De Sciglio when the next transfer market is open.

Mattia predominantly plays as a right-back but can also play on the left side of the defence.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly dismissed the possibility of striker Harry Kane signing for Manchester United.

Last weekend, Harry suggested that he may consider his future with the North London side should they get no nearer to winning silverware under manager Jose Mourinho.

Those comments naturally led to increased talk regarding an eventual switch to United, who have long been mentioned with the England international.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham have ruled out the possibility of allowing Kane to move to one of their fierce rivals.
