AC Milan turned down the chance to bring on-loan Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos to the Serie A for the campaign in the summer, according to the latest reports in Italy.
Ceballos eventually joined the Gunners on a season-long spell from Real Madrid and the 23-year-old star has impressed in his time with the Gunners thus far, appearing in all eight Premier League games while scoring once and assisting twice.
However, according to an Italian media outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan were offered the opportunity to take the playmaker out on loan but snubbed the opportunity to do so.
The source says that Rossoneri officials were in talks with Madrid over a potential deal, but ultimately the Serie A club missed out after attempting to force through a permanent move for Ceballos.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, didn’t want to lose the midfielder for any longer than the current season and so it was Arsenal who won the race for him in the end.
Ceballos has been stunning since moving to the Emirates and while Arsenal would be open to keeping the star at the club next summer, quotes that suggested Dani felt the same way were wrong, according to him.
Meanwhile, Arsenal star David Luiz believes the club can “fight” for the Premier League title this campaign.
As quoted on Sky Sports, David said: “For me, if you start something, and we’ve just started the Premier League and all of the competitions, if you don’t think you can win the competition then you won’t start anything in your life.
“I want to win titles with Arsenal. I want to improve and adapt myself for the style of Arsenal, as a club and how the manager wants us to play. I think we can do that together.”
