AC Milan have made versatile Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira their number one target this summer and are reportedly planning to offer Franck Kessie as part of the deal.
The Uruguayan star only moved to the Emirates the previous year in a £26m move from Serie A side Sampdoria and enjoyed a strong debut campaign, though revealed last week that he has struggled to adapt to life in England.
Lucas’ old Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo could offer an escape route, having made the 23-year-old star his ‘dream’ signing as the Italian prepares to take charge at Rossoneri.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan haven’t been put off by Gunners’ stance that Torreira isn’t for sale and have already got in touch with his entourage to discuss the feasibility of a deal.
Rossoneri’s move is boosted by the fact that his girlfriend, Vittoria Repetto is not enjoying life in the British capital and would like to return to Italy.
Any deal for Lucas would require AC Milan to stump up around £40 million to tempt Arsenal to sell, though the Italian outfit could lower the sum by including a player in the deal.
According to Tuttosport, Franck is the player Giampaolo is willing to cash in on: either in a trade with Gunners or to another side to raise funds to bring the South American in.
The Gunners have been connected with Kessie before, dating back to his time at Italian giants Atalanta, and is valued at around £35 million himself, while he’s said to be keen on testing himself in the English top-flight.
