Arsenal star Lucas Torreira made his debut on loan for La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and his new boss Diego Simeone was full of praise afterwards.

The 24-year-old midfielder left North London on deadline day in an initial loan deal, with the Ghana star Thomas Partey moving in the opposite direction.

He played the full 90 minutes as his new side earned a 2-0 win as Los Rojiblancos remained as La Liga’s only unbeaten club at this point in the term.

He did not get his name on the scoresheet, but his display did not go unnoticed, and Diego has moved to single his new player out for praise.

“He is a very hard-working boy, we are going to need him,” the South American tactician told journalists after the match.

“He competes very well, he will give us a lot of strength there in the middle of the court, when he obviously picks up the pace of the game.

“His speed characteristics, going out quickly in the circulation of the ball in the middle will generate more speed in that part of the middle of the pitch and well, hopefully he will find the best form.”

In other news, Juventus are allegedly putting the wheels in motion for an eye-catching future transfer deal for Lyon midfielder and Arsenal transfer target Houssem Aouar.

The France international was targeted by the Gunners during the summer, though a deal ended up falling through because of the way the Gunners tried to conduct their business, The Athletic reports.

Calciomercato report that Bianconeri made contact with him recently as the Serie A heavyweights look to move to the front of the queue in any future transfer battle for the Arsenal-linked midfielder’s signature.
