As has been claimed many times in the past, Fiorentina are keen on Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.

The Uruguayan star is currently on loan at the La Liga club Atletico Madrid, but his lack of regular playing time this season (a whole three starts in the division) has turned what was a promising switch into a disappointing one.

With no future at Arsenal under the Spanish head coach Mikel Arteta, Torreira is likely to depart in the summer transfer market, with a return to Serie A on the cards.

Fiorentina have been after the paper ever since last summer, and while they missed their chance then, they are not planning on doing so now.

Just last week, it was reported that the Serie A club were ‘well ahead in talks’ to land the player, and this is backed up by local outlet Corriere Fiorentino.

They explain the potential sale of Nikola Milenkovic in the summer is good money to sanction the raid for Torreira.

The midfielder is understood to be Daniele Prade’s first choice for the upcoming market, and thanks to contacts in the latest months, has gained a clear advantage over all other potential buyers.

The one problem in all this is the future of certain staff at Fiorentina, such as the director of football (Prade) or the current head coach Cesare Prandelli, as Rocco Commisso could end up doing an eye-catching revamp in the coming months, with some answers potentially coming in April.
