Jonathan David has revealed that he would ‘love’ to play in the PL amid rumours Arsenal are plotting a swoop for the Gent striker.

The 20-year-old ace has established himself as one of the most prolific attackers in Belgium since arriving from Canada back two years ago and is the joint leading scorer in the top division this campaign with 18 goals in 27 games for second-placed Gent.

His form has caught the Gunners’ attention, with Mikel Arteta preparing for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s potential departure.

The 30-year-old Gunners captain is out of contract in June 2021 and has even been linked with Manchester United in the latest weeks.

David is said to be high up on the Gunners’ shortlist of targets to replace Aubameyang and the Belgian side would be willing to part with the Canada international for a sum of around £17.5 million.

David has talked up a move to Premier League to play in the ‘best’ and ‘most competitive’ league in the world but he wants assurances over his game time before agreeing to a move.

‘I don’t want to go somewhere and just stay on the bench so it’s about taking the right step I want to become one of the best strikers in the world. That’s my goal,’ he said.

‘The Premier League is the best in the world and most competitive so obviously that is somewhere I would love to play in the future.’

Meantime, midfielder Dani Ceballos has said that he is committed to finishing the 2019-20 season at Arsenal.

“I finish my contract on June 30 but I would have to [continue to] play for Arsenal [when football returns],’ Dani told El Chiringuito de Jugones.
