AC Milan are reported to be weighing up a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere once his loan deal at Bournemouth is up.

The 24-year-old surprised many when he joined the Cherries in the summer on a season-long loan deal, but he has enjoyed a run in the first team and played himself back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Arsenal have suggested they will open contract talks over a new deal with Wilshere in the new year, but the player has not ruled out leaving the Emirates Stadium in the future.

Bournemouth would like to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the term but there will be no shortage of interest from some of Europe’s big guns, with AC Milan among them.

Wilshere wants regular first-team football and confirmed last week he is willing to leave Arsenal if he does not get it.

“I always thought to myself ‘of course I love Arsenal’ but if there comes a time where I have to leave, then I have to leave,” he revealed. “If I go back and I’m not going to be playing, then, of course, I have to think about things.”
