Arsenal are reportedly set to rival La Liga side Real Madrid for the landing of this talented youngster, he has a release clause of £9 million (€10m).

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Arsenal have joined Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid and Spanish side Real Betis in the race to land highly-rated Las Palmas shot-stopper Josep Martinez.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has a release clause of £9 million (€10m), it’s understood that Las Palmas board are sticking to the talent’s release clause and they are not prepared to sell for anything less.

Josep only made his first-team debut for his side in Spain’s Second Division in April, however, the goalkeeper has managed to prove himself as the club’s first-choice, making 7 matches in the final stages of last campaign.

It’s understood that Josep is comfortable at the club, as he has been afforded the chance to shine in the main team by former West Brom boss Pepe Mel.

Information of interest from two powerhouses in the Gunners and Los Blancos could change his stance though.

He was formerly on the books at Barcelona, the goalkeeper spent two seasons at the world famous La Masia academy before signing for Las Palmas in 2017.

Unai Emery is in desperate need of adding a shot-stopper to his ranks this summer, following the exits of David Ospina and Petr Cech – the Spaniard needs to find a worthy competitor to Germany international Bernd Leno.

Arsenal’s second-choice for next campaign is set to be Emiliano Martinez, the 26-year-old Arsenal academy graduate has barely made any senior team appearances, but spent the second half of last campaign on loan at EFL Championship side Reading.
