Kelechi Nwakali has revealed his parent club Arsenal have a buy-back clause to possibly bring him back to the club in the future after his move away in the summer transfer market.
The 21-year-old star joined the Gunners back in 2016 and didn’t make any kind of impact on the senior-team, instead of going out on loan four times before sealing a permanent transfer away this season.
Kelechi is now with Spanish second division outfit Huesca, but he seems confident about one day making it at the Gunners as he makes it perfectly clear he is planning to go back to north London.
On top of that, the Nigerian star claims Arsenal have the option to re-sign the player anyway, so it may be that he is actually quite highly rated by manager Unai Emery and co., in spite of not looking close to a senior-team breakthrough at any point in his time with Arsenal to date.
“Arsenal are my dream club. I have joined Huesca so as to get enough playing time and be back on track (with my career),” Kelechi told Score Nigeria.
“And one thing is sure – it’s not over yet for me at Arsenal because there’s a buy-back option in my contract as well.”
“At the end of the contract, it will be whether I’m going back to Arsenal or moving on from there.”
These claims will come as a surprise to most Gunners fans, but some will no doubt be hoping Kelechi can fulfil his potential with a transfer away from the club and return a better attacker at some point in the future.
Laurent Koscielny was adamant that he’d leave Arsenal over the summer transfer market and Bordeaux owner Joe DaGrosa has explained how his decision to sign for Bordeaux ‘transcended wage issues’.
The former Arsenal captain refused to go on the pre-season campaign to America with the rest of the roster as he forced through a transfer a year before the end of his deal.
Having been a loyal servant to the Gunners since 2010, his strike action came as something of a shock, having captained Arsenal in the Europa League final at the end of last campaign.
However, DaGrosa has explained that it was partially the 34-year-old star wanting to return to his homeland, but also have assurances of his professional career after playing, with his family’s future in mind.
‘It really starts with Laurent’s desire to come back to France,’ Joe said, via Get French Football News. ‘We were not the only club in France that he considered but Bordeaux was at the top of his list, but again, not the only one on the list.
‘His desire was to return to France, and particularly to Bordeaux where he has family, in the region. I also think that this concerns this discussion on the subject of young players compared to more experienced players.’
‘These are things we told him about, and I think that was reasoned in him, and it transcended wage issues. Where does he want to go with his family at the end of his career?’
‘So we convinced him and insisted that he came to a family, that he would feel at home, that he did not just come to a club.’
Laurent has started three Ligue 1 matches for Bordeaux since returning to France, but it has been a slow start to the campaign for Paulo Sousa’s side, picking up five points from the first four matches.
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with a surprise move to Barcelona at the end of the ongoing season.
The 28-year-old star has spent the past two years with Arsenal and during this period, the star has contributed 38 goals in all competitions for the side.
Owing to his efforts, the north London outfit are deemed to have kick-started talks over a new deal but thus far, the striker has given little indication that he’d sign an extension.
According to Football.London, the French star is willing to delay the contract decision until next year to find out whether Barcelona are ready to make an approach for his services.
Alexandre’s close friend and compatriot Antoine Griezmann made the move to Barcelona earlier in the summer transfer market but the Blaugrana are still looking for a long-term successor for Luis Suarez upfront.
Luis has been a reliable figure leading the line for the La Liga champions but reports suggest that the club could be prepared to move on from the 32-year-old star by landing a younger replacement with experience.
In other news, Eddie Nketiah has revealed that the Spanish manager Unai Emery wanted him to remain with the club this season.
The 20-year-old star impressed for Arsenal during pre-season before completing a loan switch to Championship outfit Leeds United.
“The manager wanted me to stay so it’s really confidence-boosting for me that he had me in his plans,” the Daily Mail quotes Eddie as saying.
Nketiah netted once in nine appearances for the north Londoners during the 2018-19 campaign.
