Summer move to Turkish club out of the question for €50m Arsenal signing

Fenerbahce have distanced themselves from speculations linking them with Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, with the Turkish outfit adamant they cannot afford the German player.

Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid back in 2013, and although he has been a vital player for much of that time, Mesut has also polarised opinion among the club’s fans due to a perceived lack of work ethic and enthusiasm when the going gets tough.

After an underwhelming campaign under Unai Emery last season, media speculation had claimed Arsenal are willing to offload the 30-year-old star in order to lighten their wage bill, but the Super Lig club insist rumours of a loan deal are wide of the mark.

A statement from Fener read: “Mesut Ozil, with his career and standing, successfully represents our country abroad (Ozil is of Turkish ancestry). He is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.”

“However, Fenerbahce does not have a proposal for Mesut Ozil. Under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties.”

Ozil penned a new three-and-a-half-year deal in February last year, as the Gunners managed to prevent the player from leaving on a free transfer at the end of the 2017-18 season.

That was seen as a major coup, considering the departure of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United in the winter transfer window of 2018, but Ozil’s form hasn’t recovered as expected.

Following Unai Emery’s arrival, Mesut failed to consistently impress and the star was left out of the team several times, making only 20 EPL starts in the 2018-19 season.

Serie A giants in negotiations with entourage of Arsenal outcast

Serie A club AC Milan are interested in landing Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik, according to the latest reports from Poland.

Rossoneri are in the middle of a summer overhaul both on and off the field this summer transfer window, with a new manager – Marco Giampaolo – in place as well as roles for Zvonimir Boban and Paolo Maldini.

AC Milan have been repeatedly connected with a move for a new centre-half to partner Alessio Romagnoli, including Liverpool star Dejan Lovren.

The Italians seem to be focusing on a new strategy of landing young players with high potential, and Krystian is the latest name to be connected.

Przeglad Sportowy claim that AC Milan have made contact with the defender’s agent – Cezary Kucharski – and that negotiations have been ongoing for some time now.

Those discussions were briefly stopped due to Rossoneri’s aforementioned overhaul off the field, but now things are beginning to heat up again, and the star himself recently hinted a summer exit may be on the cards.

“My future is unknown but there is one thing I can say for sure: I will definitely not go back to Arsenal U23 team,” the Poland Under-21 international said.

“At this stage it wouldn’t make sense. If I do not receive the possibility to join the first team permanently, I will have to look for other solutions.”

He is also believed to have proposals from the EFL Championship, the Eredivisie and Italy.

For their part, the Gunners have communicated to the entourage that they would rather allow the central defender to leave on loan as opposed to a permanent basis.

The one-time Legia Warsaw youngster played on loan at Charlton Athletic last campaign, helping the third-tier outfit achieve promotion back into the English second division.

Arsenal face competition from England for €24m-rated Belgian playmaker

Leicester City hope to add Sampdoria star and Arsenal target Dennis Praet to their ranks after landing Youri Tielemans, Sky Sports report.

Belgian playmaker Praet was linked with a switch to Arsenal; however, the 25-year-old star seems more likely to join Valencia.

In spite of Praet’s move to Los Murcielagos seeming likely, Brendan Rodgers’ outfit hope to be dark horses and persuade him to the Premier League.

The club have already spent more than £70m this summer. Although, the Midlands club’s aspirations of breaking into the Top 7 are evidenced by their vast spending.

The Gunners, who had the player on trial as a youngster, seemed the more possible destination; however, a switch from Italy to Spain seems more likely.

The Italians could make an excellent profit from any sale of Dennis. He moved to Sampdoria from Anderlecht three seasons ago for €8 million. However, the Serie A outfit rejected a £49 million offer from Arsenal the previous month.

AC Milan are another team keen on signing Praet. According to the player’s representative, Martin Riha, Rossoneri have been impressed by the midfielder’s displays.

“Everybody knows what Giampaolo thinks of Dennis. For now, I can’t say anything else,” Marin said.

“AC Milan is an important brand, it’s a big name. But there are also other clubs that want to sign him, especially abroad, they’ve already shown their interest.”

It’s unknown where Dennis will end up by the end of this transfer market; however, Martin Riha admitted that a decision will soon be made.
