Arsenal have made an offer for a Real Madrid winger ahead of the January transfer market, but are set to face stiff competition from AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen claims a recent report in the Spanish media.

Lucas Vazquez is the star in question, with the Spain international’s long-term future apparently laying away from the Bernabeu with Brazilian wingers Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. set to be given further chances in the first-team over the course of the campaign under Zinedine Zidane.

The Gunners would seem to be a perfect landing spot for the 28-year-old to provide competition in the attacking roles for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe and promising talents Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Vazquez has been an important component of Real Madrid’s rosters over the course of his tenure with the Galacticos, even scoring the first penalty of the 2016 UCL final shootout, but has rarely been able to nail down a starting XI place for any sustained period of time.

Now, a report from the Spanish outlet El Desmarque, (via claims that “Arsenal have made a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez ahead of the January transfer window”.

The report goes on to state that although Unai Emery‘s side are keen, Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen “lead the way” in the hunt to snap up Vazquez due to their desire to offer “the best wages” and are seemingly set to match Los Blancos’ asking price of €20 million.
