Leicester City are prepared to join Arsenal in the transfer race to land Rennes star Ismaila Sarr’ in the summer window.

The 21-year-old wing wizard has attracted plenty of attention around the continent following a sterling season in France and could depart Rennes in the coming months with speculation around his long-term future mounting.

Sarr, who scored 12 times and laid on a further 11 assists across all competitions last campaign, is wanted by the Gunners having impressed Unai Emery during their UEFA Europa League matches earlier this year.

The club reportedly made contact with Les Rouges et Noirs about landing the player two months ago and it is believed the French outfit will hold out for a figure around the £25m mark.

However, Emery, who is interested in bolstering his attack with pacey wide men this summer, is likely to face heavy competition for Ismaila’s signature with Leicester City also interested.

A source close to Ismaila revealed the Foxes are the only other English team to have expressed a real interest in the player.

The insider told a Senegalese media: ‘Leicester, Roma and AC Milan are the three clubs that have shown genuine interest in signing Ismaila.’

‘He has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool. But I have not heard any news from either of these two clubs.’

Ismaila, who netted the vital spot-kick to hand his side victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the French Cup final the previous month, is tied down to the French side until 2021. He joined from Metz two years ago in a £15m move.
