Premier League giants Manchester United are keen on signing young AS Roma star and reported Arsenal target Nicolo Zaniolo, according to the latest reports in Italy.

Italian ace has become one of the hottest talents in Italy in the previous year and is rated at around £43m by his club.

Although yet to become a regular first-team player at Giallorossi, Zaniolo featured 32 times this campaign, netting six goals and picking up two assists from midfield.

Italian daily sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport state a host of clubs are closely monitoring the 19-year-old playmaker’s progress including Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

The Gunners too have been touted with a transfer interest in the teenager, who is under contract at AS Roma until the summer of 2023.

Nicolo joined AS Roma from Inter Milan last summer and the Italian’s displays this season earned Zaniolo his first international call-up to Italian manager Roberto Mancini’s squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the race for young talent in summer as the club plans to change his approach to signings.

The Red Devils have spent a fortune on tempting established stars to the club in the last three seasons, but after a number of high profile flops, Ole will return to legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson’s recruitment methods.

Alex insisted on signing outfield stars aged 27 or younger, who could be transformed into superstars at the club.

Norwegian tactician has been connected with a string of young prospect including Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho and Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.
