Real Madrid are prepared to try and tempt Arsenal into selling Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer market and will offer Luka Jovic as part of the deal, according to the latest reports.
The Gabon striker is the club’s top scorer this season – netting 12 times across all competitions – and has been prolific for the club ever since switching to north London from Borussia Dortmund.
However, both Pierre-Emerick and strike partner Alexandre Lacazette will be out of contract in the summer of 2020, when the club will be free to leave the club for free.
According to Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast, Pierre-Emerick has been stalling on signing a fresh deal and that has prompted interest from Real Madrid.
The Spanish heavyweights, who are keen to bolster their frontline, believe he may be available – either in the winter or in the summer – with Arsenal having previously stressed that they wouldn’t allow players to run down their contracts, as happened with Wales international Aaron Ramsey.
Los Blancos bosses have spoken to Aubameyang’s agents to see if he would be interested in moving to the Santiago Bernabeu and have floated the idea of using Jovic as bait to sign the striker.
Former Frankfurt frontman Jovic only arrived at the Galacticos in the summer, costing £58 million, but has struggled to settle in the team, scoring just once.
He joined the club with a reputation as one of the continent’s hottest young talents, though, having scored 27 times last campaign and capturing attention with his performances in the UEFA Europa League – with Arsenal credited with interest at the time.
Arsenal are lining up a move to blown Tottenham Hotspur out of the water in the race to sign Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey in January window, Football Insider can reveal.
Arsenal are in the market for a new centre-half as they look to solve their chronic and longstanding problems in the defence.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that they’re keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old ace and were hugely impressed by his display against them in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.
He is valued at between £20-£25m by the Canaries, who tied the player down to a five-year deal in the summer that runs until 2023.
The interest from the Gunners comes after Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Spurs have set their sights on the Norwich defender ahead of the upcoming window.
European clubs Borussia Dortmund and Lyon are also interested in Godfrey, who has captained England U21s as well as his club employers.
Spurs are in the market for a centre-half as they look to secure at least one replacement for the Belgian star Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, who are both out of contract at the end of the campaign.
The Gunners are also looking for competition for senior quartet David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding.
Godfrey has established himself as an essential player in Daniel Farke’s side after making huge progress since signing for Norwich from York City in 2016.
He featured in 31 league matches season during their Championship-winning campaign, including 26 consecutive starts at the back after breaking into the side in December.
Atlanta United have reportedly named asking price for Arsenal and Manchester United target Ezequiel Barco.
The 20-year-old is attracting interest from across Europe after a superb season with the MLS team, while the player has also caught the eye in Argentina’s youth teams.
The Gunners and Red Devils are believed to feature on a long list of admirers of the South American ace which also includes Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma, Sporting CP, SL Benfica, LOSC Lille and Valencia.
Ezequiel, who is considered one of South America’s most exciting talents, joined Atlanta from Independiente for a reported $15 million (£11.6 million) fee in the winter of 2018 – an MLS record at the time.
And with Europe’s elite clubs ready to pounce, Atlanta are looking to make a tidy profit on the talent, who can play as a left winger, attacking midfielder or second striker.
The MLS franchise want $25 million (£19 million) for Barco, according to an Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Record has reported that Portuguese heavyweights Sporting CP are weighing up an approach for the star.
According to the publication, the Lions view the Atlanta man as a perfect replacement for star playmaker Bruno Fernandes if the club lose the Portugal international in January.
In spite of seeing his season interrupted by injuries and international commitments, Ezequiel finished the recent campaign with four goals and three assists in 15 MLS matches for Atlanta.
He helped Frank de Boer’s side to the play-offs, where the club made it all the way to the Conference Finals before they were beaten by Toronto FC.
Ezequiel also featured for Argentina at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland earlier this year.
