Arsenal still want to land Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona this transfer window, in spite of Ronald Koeman’s determination to get the best out of the Brazilian midfielder next season.
According to reports in Spain, the Gunners are planning to make an offer to land the forward on loan.
Arsenal are keen to make two more acquisitions before the transfer window closes on October 5th.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants to land a new midfielder and has his sights set on both Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey.
They are only likely to lodge a bid for one of the two, but the club could end up signing a cheaper alternative.
Earlier in the window, the club were expected to launch a bid to take Coutinho on loan from Blaugrana after he returned to the club from Bayern Munich.
But now, the north London heavyweights are expected to make another bid before the market closes.
New Barca chief Koeman is adamant that he wants to get the best out of the ex-Liverpool forward.
However, with Memphis Depay allegedly a target, Barca chiefs could decide to let him depart in order to make way.
Coutinho still has three years to run on his existing deal, and Barcelona are unwilling to sell the player on a permanent deal for less than £64 million.
A loan deal would obviously be more financially viable for the Gunners, who could be more inclined to make a formal offer next year when Mesut Ozil is out of the club.
