Arsenal are allegedly ready to table a long-term contract offer to exciting prospect Miguel Azeez.
The 18-year-old midfielder was given his senior debut as a substitute in the 4-2 win over Dundalk last December.
The Englishman is out of contract in the summer, in spite of impressing at every age category in the Gunners’ academy system.
And according to the Sun, Azeez is set to be tied down to Arsenal for the long-term as talks over his future take place.
The club do not want to lose him on a free transfer and are hoping they can retain his services as Miguel hits his peak.
Azeez has shown extraordinary playmaking ability from deep in midfield, using his eye for goal and technique to make him a threat at all times.
That has led to comparisons with former Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas, who also impressed as a youngster with the Gunners.
That is not necessarily the sort of player that Azeez aspires to be though, having dropped into a deeper position recently.
And when opening up on the sorts of stars he looks up to, as well as Arsenal icon Patrick Vieira, there is a more surprising name that comes to the England youth international’s mind.
“Sergio Busquets,” Azeez said in an interview last year. “I think he has been the best holding midfielder for a very long time.
“He always seems to have space around him, always plays with his head up, one step ahead. For me, I like to put some of his game into mine.
“When players run at 100mph they can’t really look at what is going on and sometimes you need to play with a bit of composure.”
