Arsenal are confident that they’ll keep Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid for another year, according to reports.

The 23-year-old star has impressed since forcing his way back into Mikel Arteta’s side a couple of months ago and during the Premier League run-in he formed a brilliant partnership alongside Granit Xhaka in the Gunners’ midfield.

Ceballos is due to return to Madrid after the Gunners’ FA Cup final against Chelsea this Saturday, but with the north Londoners missing out on a place in the Champions League once again, their budget to land a replacement is restricted.

According to the Evening Standard, Arteta is keen for his side to extend Ceballos’ loan and the midfielder also wants to remain at the club for one more year.

The report also states that Real Madrid had planned to sell Ceballos this summer but the club are unlikely to find a buyer due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Madrid, therefore, are open to loaning out Dani for another year before making a decision over the player’s future next summer.

Spanish newspaper AS also claim that a new loan deal between Madrid and Arsenal for the Spaniard is ‘almost done’.

Speaking earlier this month, Mikel admitted that he want keen to keep his compatriot at Arsenal.

‘I’m really happy with him, the way he’s evolving and I love how much he likes to play football – the passion he puts into every training session, and in every game, you just have to see his celebrations,’ said the Arsenal boss.
