Emerson Palmieri’s entourage has admitted that a return to Italy is a possibility for the Chelsea man before the transfer window slams shut.
The former Roma defender has been linked with a host of Italian clubs, with his future at Stamford Bridge under the scanner following the club’s acquisition of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
Juventus have been touted with an interest in Emerson, but it is Napoli who are at present leading the hunt as sporting director Cristiano Guintoli tries to land the Chelsea man on loan.
Inside Futbol claims that intermediaries are working on a move for Emerson to join Napoli, with a possible loan deal with an obligation to buy set at between €25 million and €30 million in the works.
Now Emerson’s representative has admitted that a return to Italy could happen, though he isn’t willing to comment on specific clubs.
Asked by Inside Futbol whether Palmieri could join Bianconeri or Partenopei, agent Fernando Garcia replied: “I cannot say anything right now.”
Pressed on whether a return to Serie A is possible for Emerson, he said: “Yes.”
He is under contract with Chelsea until June of 2022 and made 21 appearances in all competitions for Frank Lampard’s side last term.
Emerson joined the Blues from Roma in the January 2018 transfer market and his stock remains high in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Leeds United are allegedly keen to sign Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher on a permanent basis.
Having made an impact on loan at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City last campaign, the academy product is expected to spend his next temporary stint at a Premier League club.
