Chelsea will reportedly demand around £36 million for defender Marcos Alonso amid rumoured interest from La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone is on the summer hunt for a new left-back after Lucas Hernandez singed for Bayern Munich for £68m.

And fellow full-back Filipe Luis, who spent a year at the Blues earlier in his professional career, will also leave the club.

It has been reported that Marcos Alonso is top of Diego’s wishlist this summer, with an offer thought to be imminent.

The 28-year-old didn’t feature for Chelsea as much as he would have liked the previous season, with Maurizio Sarri often rotating the Spaniard with Emerson Palmieri.

Indeed, it was Emerson who was given the nod for the UEFA Europa League final against Unai Emery’s Arsenal.

Rumours since suggest that Marcos is open to returning to La Liga with the club his grandfather and father both represented.

But the Blues, currently under a two-window transfer ban, may not be open for summer business after Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid.

According to the latest reports from Spain though, the club have slapped a £36 million price-tag on the versatile defender’s head.

Alonso joined Chelsea in 2016 and he played an important role as a wing-back in their EPL title win during his first season.

But with Maurizio opting to play Emerson Palmieri more as last season played out, Marcos became disillusioned at Chelsea.

The club are yet to name Maurizio’s successor after the Italian tactician left for Juventus but Derby County manager Frank Lampard is the frontrunners to take over as manager.

It’s unclear whether the former England international would prefer Marcos at left-back or the former AS Roma defender.
