Chelsea news round-up: Willian attracts interest, Dean Henderson linked, Dembele on market

UCL giants target Willian as Chelsea remain locked in contract stalemate

Juventus are lining up a summer move for Chelsea’s contract rebel Willian, the reports say.

His current contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of the campaign and he has continually stalled on penning new terms with the Blues.

Barcelona offer £60 million for the Brazilian attacker in the summer of 2018, which was rejected by the Blues and were linked with a cut-price £20 million swoop last month.

But according to the Express, it is Italian heavyweights Juve and not Blaugrana who appear to be stepping up their rumoured interest in the midfielder.

It is understood that Blues are only offering Willian a 12-month contract extension but the midfielder is holding out for a two-year contract.

A year after Blaugrana’s eye-watering big-money bid, Bianconeri enquired about the star’s availability last summer but a move failed to materialise.

However, the club are ready to tempt the South American away from west London – however, a stumbling block could be under-pressure Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri.

Willian, it is stated, is not a huge fan of Maurizio’s managerial style having worked with the Italian at the Blues – but the manager faces an uncertain future and has been mentioned with an exit in the summer.

Chelsea, meantime, have agreed a deal for the £33.3 million summer signing of Morocco international Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

The west Londoners must now confirm personal terms with the technically gifted attacker, who will join Chelsea on July 1.

Both Ajax and Chelsea confirmed the deal, with Frank Lampard securing his first acquisition as Stamford Bridge boss.

Chelsea reportedly set their sights on on-loan Man Utd goalkeeper

Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson will be targeted by Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer market, according to reports.

The 22-year-old star has impressed on his season-long loan stint at Sheffield United, keeping nine clean sheets in 26 matches having also starred for the Blades in the EFL Championship last season.

With David de Gea firmly established as the club’s No.1, Blades chief Chris Wilder may see an opportunity to hold on to Dean for another season.

Extending the English stopper’s stay at Brammall Lane could be complicated, however, by interest from French giants PSG and Chelsea, as claimed by ESPN.

Henderson has been a vital cog in his side’s meteoric rise this season, marshalling the second-best defence in the PL, with leaders Liverpool having conceded fewer goals and is believed to be unwilling to return to Old Trafford as David’s understudy.

His accomplished displays have sparked speculation he could be called-up to Gareth Southgate’s UEFA Euro 2020 roster, where he could play second-fiddle to Everton star Jordan Pickford.

Manchester United will have to battle to retain the services of the promising youngster, as both the Blues and Parisians are likely to be able to offer Champions League football.

Blues stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga will be waiting with bated breathe to see if manager Frank Lampard drops him for the second match in a row, when the Blues take on the Red Devils on Monday.

The world’s most expensive keeper was apparently ‘shocked’ by the decision, and if relations sour between manager and player, the No.1 spot may be open for the likes of Henderson to fill.

Chelsea boost as 19-goals forward looks set to part ways with French club

Chelsea and Manchester United have been encouraged in their reported pursuit of Moussa Dembele as Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas admitted they will ‘sell the players who want to leave.’

And it’d take a bid of £60 million for either side to bring the Frenchman to England, according to a recent report by the Daily Star.

Dembele has long been a target for the Blues, while United remain desperate for a striker in spite of the loan capture of Odion Ighalo the previous month.

The former Celtic and Fulham hitman is at the top of their list for the summer as the club aim to ease the pressure on England star Marcus Rashford.

And Les Gones chief Aulas has given his blessing for Moussa to depart in the summer transfer window.

Aulas said: ‘We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer. We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go.’

Dembele has 19 goals in 36 games for the French side this campaign.

In other news, Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson is reportedly being considered by Chelsea as a possible replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Henderson has spent each of the last two campaigns on loan at Sheffield United and is yet to make a single senior-team appearance for his parent club.

The 22-year-old star has impressed for the Blades this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 26 appearances across all competitions, including eight shut-outs in the PL.
