Chelsea have pinpointed Penarol youngster Facundo Pellistri as a possible transfer target, according to the latest reports.
In spite of still being five months short of his 19th birthday, Facundo has already made 25 senior team appearances for the Uruguayan club.
However, the emergence of the wide attacker has naturally led to interest from Europe with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers said to be among his suitors.
According to an Italian Italian media outlet Calciomercato, the west Londoners are also admirers of the prospect, who still has two years remaining on his current contract at the Campeon del Siglo outfit.
Although Chelsea are well stocked for options in wide zones, they’d be prepared for Pellistri to earn regular action somewhere else before contending for a place in the senior ranks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen gem Kai Havertz this summer because of concerns over Callum Hudson-Odoi’s development at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson-Odoi signed a new long-term deal with the west London side last September, but the Englishman has struggled to impress this campaign, scoring just once in 18 Premier League appearances.
According to 90min, Chelsea have ‘stepped up their pursuit’ of Kai as they are worried by their academy’s graduate perceived lack of progress during the 2019-20 term.
Havertz enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 season for his German club, scoring 17 times and providing nine assists in 43 games in all competitions.
The 21-year-old star has less than two years left to run on his deal at BayArena, and it is understood that he’ll seek pastures new during this summer’s transfer window.
