Chelsea reportedly put Lyon No.9 centre-forward on transfer radar

The Blues have entered the race for the highly-rated Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, the Daily Mail reports.

Moussa is a target for the Red Devils and was watched by a scout from Manchester United on Saturday night as he netted at Toulouse.

But the Blues are exploring a move for the ex-Celtic striker next summer.

United view Moussa as a good option for the January transfer window as they look to improve their forward variants.

Yet it is understood Les Gones might want to hold onto the Frenchman until the summer to maximise his market value.

He is more settled under new head coach Rudi Garcia than previous boss Sylvinho and less likely to push for a transfer in January.

Should Batshuayi and Giroud depart, England international Tammy Abraham would be club’s only striker.

And that could suit the Blues, who are in the middle of a transfer embargo that will likely last until the summer window.

The club will take their appeal over the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in late November, with a verdict set to be given before the January transfer market.

The Blues could lose Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud by then, leaving Tammy Abraham as their only recognised senior centre-forward.

Given their fine start to the campaign under Frank Lampard, they are likely to need more options to attempt and compete in the Champions League.

23-year-old Ligue 1 centre-forward reportedly eyed by Chelsea

Chelsea have joined the hunt to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, following interest from their league rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Frenchman joined Les Gones from Celtic last season and has gone to score a lot of goals for them.

As per Fichajes (via Transfermarkt), the 23-year-old star is now a target for Chelsea and could make a switch to the PL outfit for around €45 million.

Dembele’s current contract with the French club expires in 2023 after he signed a five-year contract last year.

The French striker has netted 8 goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances this term while scoring 20 goals across all competitions last season for Lyon.

Dembele is powerful with and without the ball and uses his body well to get into goalscoring positions. Moussa can run in wide areas to bring teammates into play and offer an outlet to the midfielders behind him to put balls into.

Tammy Abraham has been in phenomenal form for the Blues this season, but the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud have not had too many chances, which could result in them asking for a transfer away from Chelsea.

The Blues need another centre-forward to offer competition to Abraham, which is one reason why the club are linked with Dembele.

Dembele does not contribute a lot to his team’s defence, which may be a matter of concern for the Blues manager Frank Lampard as he expects all his players to have a good work ethic.

Chelsea show interest in 22-year-old former Celtic and Fulham forward

According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, Chelsea have entered the race to land Moussa Dembele from Lyon.

The club are currently in the midst of a two-window transfer embargo and could be able to sign stars in January if their appeal is successful.

However, should they lose, the Blues will need to wait until next summer. That, though, would work out well for Chelsea in regards to former Celtic forward Dembele, with Les Gones said to be waiting until next summer to listen to offers in order to maximise any potential sum.

The 23-year-old star has started the season well, netting eight goals in 11 appearances in Ligue 1. Currently rated at £27 million by Transfermarkt, he certainly has potential, and clearly knows where the back of the net.

The Stamford Bridge outfit, though, already have a top centre-forward in their ranks in Tammy Abraham. The 22-year-old star has scored one more in the league than Moussa, whilst he has also netted in the UCL against Lille.

Comparing the two, it looks like that the three-time England international is just a better version than the France Under-21 star.

Firstly, the star has more goals, as previously mentioned, whilst he also has two assists compared to Moussa’s zero.

Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi have both been linked with transfers away recently, which may mean that a new player will be needed to provide competition for Chelsea’s number nine.

Man Utd reportedly target highly-rated Ligue 1 duo

Manchester United are keeping a close eye on French duo Moussa Dembele and Boubakary Soumare in the lead-up to the January transfer market, according to a recent report in England.

ESPN is reporting that the club believe that Soumare could be the ideal replacement for club-record signing Paul Pogba, who is being linked with a return to Juventus as well as La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid.

The same article claims that Manchester United have already scouted the LOSC Lille midfielder on a number of occasions this campaign.

According to the same story, the 20-year-old ace fulfils the requirements with regards to the Red Devils’ policy of buying young prospects.

ESPN go on to add that Boubakary would likely command a transfer fee in the region of £30 million to £35 million if the 20-time English champions do step up their interest.

The story claims that Manchester United are still keen on Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, having tracked the Frenchman for a number of seasons.

Manchester United have been keeping tabs on his progress since his stints at Celtic and Fulham and Les Gones star would like to return to British football.

However, ESPN suggest that Manchester United might find it difficult to sign Dembele given that Ligue 1 club have no interest in selling their prized asset.

Dembele has netted 22 goals in 43 games in Ligue 1 since his £19 million move to Lyon from Celtic in 2018.

Ligue 1 striker ready to make PL switch once again as Man Utd keen

Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele is reportedly interested in a return to England amid interest from Manchester United.

The French star came through Fulham’s academy and attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs before a surprising transfer north of the border to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

Dembele spent a goal-laden two seasons at Parkhead before an acrimonious exit to Lyon in 2018, where he has scored 26 goals in 56 matches for the Ligue 1 heavyweights.

The 23-year-old has long been of interest to the Red Devils but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is particularly interested in Dembele given the club’s problems in front of goal.

Romelu Lukaku was allowed to depart for Inter Milan without a ready-made replacement and Ole has been given the £74 million from the Belgian’s departure to reinvest in the side.

Moussa is valued at around £45m by Lyon and the French side insist he is not for sale. But sports TV channel ESPN report that the player is keen on a return to England and the Red Devils have the finances to pull off a deal.

United take on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and both clubs are expected to ring the changes.

Solskjaer’s side beat the west Londoners 4-0 on the opening weekend of the season but Frank Lampard’s men have made more progress since and sit seven points ahead of the Old Trafford outfit in the table.

Arsenal set their sights on 23-year-old Lyon centre-forward

Arsenal are reportedly interested in landing Manchester United target Moussa Dembele, from Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

The Gunners are one of several sides that are keen on the 23-year-old star, who has previously played for Celtic and Fulham.

According to Transfer Market Web, the French centre-forward, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, has attracted interest from the Gunners.

Dembele has been in great form this campaign in Ligue 1, scoring 6 goals in 9 matches for his club, despite Lyon struggling for consistency this campaign. He has also netted thrice in five games in the French Cup this season.

The striker moved to the French side last term and scored 20 goals in 46 games across all competitions. The 23-year-old signed with Les Gones for around €22 million, signing a five-year contract with the club.

He is a great finisher who comes alive in the opposite box and puts away chances with ease. The 23-year-old star’s goalscoring record has been very good, wherever the star has played.

In Ligue 1 this season, the star has averaged 2.1 shots per game, and 2.1 headers won per match.

He could be a useful alternative to the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a long-term replacement for the former.

At 23 years of age, Moussa is young and has the potential to be even better, and in an attacking club like Arsenal, he could get more chances to score more goals.

Man Utd line up Lyon striker & Newcastle midfielder in £90m deal

Manchester United are prepared to spend £90 million on Moussa Dembele and Sean Longstaff in January window with Ed Woodward ready to back manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Old Trafford outfit have nine points from their seven games and sit way down in 10th place and as a result, United chief Ed Woodward is ready to back Ole in the transfer window this January.

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele are the prime targets to bring to the club.

Man Utd dealt blow in their pursuit of Lyon No.9 striker

Lyon’s chief Juninho has warned European heavyweights hoping to land Moussa Dembele that the former Celtic forward is not for sale.

The French striker left the Scottish Premiership the previous summer to join the Ligue 1 outfit but his impressive performances have courted interest from across the continent.

Manchester United were heavily connected with a bid for the 23-year-old star this summer but a transfer failed to materialise, with Italian club Juventus also thought to hold an interest in landing him.

Dembele has started the campaign in style, scoring three goals in two matches, and Lyon chief Juninho warned that he’ll be staying with the club.

‘We are satisfied with the players we have,’ the sporting director told Foot Sur 7. ‘We must now build collectively.’

‘We do not need to sell. I would like everyone to stay with us. If Moussa Dembele was to leave it would do us a lot of harm.’

Celtic would be owed between 10 and 15 per cent of any transfer because of a sell-on clause inserted into the agreement that saw him move to Les Gones for £20 million.

While United can not move for Dembele this summer because of the English transfer window being closed, Juventus can attempt and get a deal over the line before the European market slams shut on September 2.

Meantime, Borussia Dortmund have handed Jadon Sancho an improved deal in an attempt to fend off interest from Manchester United, Bild reports.

The young English forward has been rewarded after netting 12 goals and assisting 14 more in his 34 top-flight appearances last season.

Man Utd told they have no chance of landing No.9 striker

Manchester United have been informed by the Ligue 1 outfit Lyon their chances of landing Moussa Dembele as the club continue to keep tabs on the in-form Frenchman.

The forward has the talent to be one of the best No 9s in Europe as Moussa continues firing in the goals for Les Gones, something Dembele has also done while on British shores in the past.

That’s drawn the interest of a number of elite clubs, including Manchester United, who are said to be scouting the 23-year-old.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be keeping an eye on the former Fulham and Celtic star with the mindset that he could replace Romelu Lukaku, after signing for Inter Milan.

However, the Norwegian tactician has since been warned off the French star by Lyon chief Juninho, who is planing for the future.
