Chelsea striker re-joins Premier League club on season-long loan

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has joined the Blues’ fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace on loan for the second time.

The 26-year-old Belgian star has signed for the duration of the 2020-21 term, having impressed during a short-term stint at the end of 2018-19.

Batshuayi scored six goals in 13 matches for the Eagles in that spell and will be hoping to impress once again having struggled for senior team minutes at Stamford Bridge.

The centre-forward evidently enjoyed his first taste of action with the Eagles, saying that he feels he has returned home.

“I feel like I’m home now, so it’s good,” now-Blues loanee said.

“But I need to do a good season here, to work a lot with my teammates and I want to do my best here.

“It’s not my first time here. I know the team-mates, I know the gaffer, I know how the club works here.

“For me, it’s the best decision. I’m happy, the coach is happy, my teammates are happy. Let’s get to work.”

He arrives as Crystal Palace’s second major signing of the summer transfer window, following the purchase of talented playmaker Eberechi Eze from EFL Championship side QPR.

With Timo Werner arriving to battle Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham for a first-team spot at Chelsea, Michy always seemed likely to leave after falling down the pecking order last campaign.

He scored six goals in 24 appearances for the west London heavyweights in 2019-20, but only started one Premier League match in 2020 – a 2-0 home defeat to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United in February.

Chelsea striker could be set for second loan stint at PL rivals

Crystal Palace are in negotiations with Chelsea over bringing forward Michy Batshuayi back to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan, reports say.

The Belgium forward, whose contract expires next year, is set to sign a 12-month extension to his existing Chelsea deal.

It’d be a second loan spell to Selhurst Park in three campaigns for the 26-year-old. He scored six goals in 13 games in the second half of the 2018/19 season.

Michy has dropped to fourth choice in the pecking order at the club behind Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.

He didn’t play a single minute under Frank Lampard after a substitute appearance versus Bournemouth on February 29.

Palace struggled for goals last term with a return of 31 from 38 Premier League games. Their top goalscorer was Jordan Ayew on nine.

If Palace sign Michy, it would prevent them bringing in Chelsea ace Conor Gallagher on loan as PL rules stipulate a club cannot loan more than one player from another side in a transfer window.

Crystal Palace management are lining up former Chelsea ace and now Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga as a successor for Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha is determined to quit Selhurst Park during the current transfer market and Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco have all shown an interest in the 27-year-old star.

If Zaha gets his wish and quits Palace, Roy Hodgson’s side are set to target Boga – but are likely to face stern competition for the Ivory Coast international.

Belgium forward in line for unexpected Chelsea contract extension

Chelsea are allegedly hopeful of tying Michy Batshuayi to a new deal before sending the centre-forward on loan for the 2020-21 season.

The Belgium international only netted once in 16 Premier League appearances for the Blues last campaign and his future has been the subject of speculation in the latest months.

According to The Sun, the Blues want to offer the 26-year-old a new £100,000 per week deal to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next year, but the attacker is likely to spend next term away from the club.

The report claims that Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace are all interested in a loan deal, but the majority of Michy’s wages will have to be paid by the side that takes him.

The Eagles are believed to be the favourites for the Belgian man, who spent the second half of the 2018-19 term on loan at Selhurst Park, scoring five times in 11 top-flight outings.

Timo Werner’s summer arrival has pushed the Belgium international further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Meantime, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard reportedly wants to make two more acquisitions after securing the signature of German ace Kai Havertz.

Chelsea have been extremely active in the transfer window and Havertz joins a star-studded list of summer arrivals which includes Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Malang Sarr.

Now, The Telegraph states that Lampard has set his sights on two more new players with the 2020-21 PL season set to kick off next weekend.

West Brom in discussions to snap up £90,000-a-week Chelsea star

West Brom have made an approach to land Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of the new campaign, Football Insider can reveal.

The 26-year-old Belgium international is among the centre-forwards on the radar of the club’s recruitment team as they prepare for their PL return.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the club have contacted Chelsea to ask about potentially landing Batshuayi on a season-long loan.

The front man is well down the pecking order at the club and Chelsea are happy to let him move on this transfer market.

The Londoners’ preference is for Michy to leave on a permanent deal but they may also listen to loan proposals.

Chelsea valued the Belgian at £50 million two seasons ago when he was the subject of strong interest from rival teams including West Ham.

A deal could not be agreed and the forward eventually joined Valencia on loan, which was sandwiched between temporary switches to Borussia Dortmund and latterly Crystal Palace.

The west Londoners would now sell the front man for less than £25 million after he entered the final year of his contract.

Batshuayi spent last campaign at his parent club but started only one match in the PL and UCL, the two principal competitions.

Nevertheless, he maintained his stunning career scoring rate by netting eight times in 25 games at an average of a goal every 93 minutes.

Batshuayi, who has banged in 16 goals in 29 Belgium matches, has scored 25 goals from 77 games in his stop-start Blues career.

He has also netted prolifically on loan at Palace, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund as well as at former clubs Standard Liege and Marseille.

PL rivals in touch with Chelsea for 26-year-old flop forward

West Brom have reportedly enquired about a possible loan move for castaway Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

Football Insider has claimed that the Baggies have made initial contact regarding bringing the Belgian to The Hawthorns in this transfer market.

The report has highlighted the fact that the Blues valued Batshuayi at £50m back in 2018 amid huge interest from other PL clubs.

Slaven Bilic’s outfit are looking forward to their top-flight return after spending two campaigns in the Championship following their relegation at the end of the 2017/18 term.

Recruiting a Premier League-proven forward could be key for the club’s survival this coming season.

Michy currently has as Transfermarkt value of £12.6 million after falling drastically down the pecking order at the club.

The emergence of Tammy Abraham and arrival of new boy Timo Werner will likely make it extremely difficult for the 26-year-old to find playing-time at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are reportedly hoping to cash in on Michy but would also be open to a loan move.

This is positive news for West Brom, who like many other top-flight sides may be operating on limited funds in this transfer market.

Should they sign the Belgian, he will join the likes of Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu in a fight for a place in Bilic’s starting XI.

If he has a promising season with the Baggies, they may be inclined to sign him permanently, which will further fund Frank Lampard’s quest for new signings.

Chelsea call for £20m from Premier League club for Belgium international

Leeds United will reportedly have to fork out £20 million if they wish to prise Michy Batshuayi away from Chelsea.

The 26-year-old star has been deemed as surplus to requirements at the club with Frank Lampard having an arsenal of forwards at his disposal.

Timo Werner is set to lead the line for Chelsea next term, while Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are also vying to start.

As a result, Chelsea are ready to cash in on Batshuayi as the club look to raise funds for other transfers.

The Belgian international – who netted six goals in 24 games for Chelsea during the 2019/20 term – hasn’t featured in the PL since February 29.

But the ex-Marseille ace has no shortage of suitors with West Ham UNited one club ready to take a punt on him.

And Belgian source Het Laatste Nieuws report how Leeds are also weighing up a bid to bring him to Elland Road.

They state that Marcelo Bielsa is a huge fan of the centre-forward having worked with him at Stade Velod rome.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are allegedly planning a double swoop for centre-half pairing John Stones and Lewis Dunk during the summer transfer market.

Following Nathan Ake’s arrival at Manchester City, John appears to have fallen further down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order, and the Englishman has been tipped to head for the Etihad exit door this transfer window.

Meanwhile, a recent report suggested that the Blues have approached Brighton & Hove Albion over a potential deal for Dunk, who would supposedly cost in the region of £40 million.

Now, The Mirror claims that Chelsea will aim to strike deals for both centre-halves as Frank Lampard looks to shore up his defence ahead of next season.

Chelsea hand Leeds United chance to snap up 26-year-old centre-forward

Michy Batshuayi has allegedly been offered to Leeds United as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old Belgian forward looks set to quit Chelsea in a cut-price deal this summer.

According to Get French Football News, Michy’s agent has offered Leeds the chance to snap up his client.

The source states that the club have received “hundreds” of offers from representatives following their promotion from the Championship.

Michy is one of the names on the long-list as he plans to revive his career away from Stamford Bridge.

The star has been shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace since he signed for the Blues in 2016.

But manager Frank Lampard has made it clear that the Belgium international does not feature in his long-term plans.

Chelsea valued Michy at around £50 million two seasons ago.

But reports state the Blues will accept a sum of around £25 million for him this summer as he only has one year left on his contract.

Michy has racked up eight goals and three assists in all competitions this season. Leeds have also allegedly set their sights on Norwich star Emiliano Buendia.

And they are reportedly interested in luring Gent left-back Milad Mohammadi away from Belgium.

In other news, Chelsea are allegedly prepared to make bids for Ajax duo Andre Onana and Nicolas Tagliafico.

Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak and Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell have both been mentioned with a switch to Stamford Bridge but their respective valuations are understood to be out of Chelsea’s price range.

According to The Mirror, that has increased the chances of Chelsea moving for Onana and Tagliafico before the beginning of the new campaign.

Out-of-favour Belgian star could leave Chelsea for £25m

Chelsea are offering striker Michy Batshuayi to a string of teams, including newly-promoted Leeds United, for a cut-price sum of £25m.

The 26-year-old has struggled for playing time at Stamford Bridge, with the arrival of Frank Lampard as a head coach doing nothing to help his cause.

Frank has already snapped up Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech ahead of next campaign, forcing the Belgian even further down the pecking order in Chelsea forward line.

He had been available for transfer in previous campaigns, although Chelsea wanted £40m-£50m for the payer, but now he has just one year left on his deal, they are more than willing to accept £25 million for his services.

Get French Football News report that the Whites have been offered the chance to Michy, although he is one of a huge amount of stars the Yorkshire side have been touted since securing promotion.

While the west Londoners would be happy to offload Batshuayi to any host of suitors, Leeds are an obvious candidate as boss Marcelo Bielsa was in charge of the striker when they were both at Marseille.

Meantime, Borussia Monchengladbach star Matthias Ginter has confirmed that Chelsea want to land him this summer but has ruled out a transfer away from Germany ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

“I’m definitely staying in Gladbach. Of course I heard of the enquiries and was flattered by this attention,” Matthias told Kicker.

“But I’ve said often enough how good things are for me in Gladbach. The current team has great potential and the coach has brought a huge added value for us.

“The club is in the process of building something with the great fans and the environment. I also have big goals with the club and of course I’m still tied into a contract.”
