€40m former Inter Milan captain appears on Man Utd radar Copy

Manchester United have allegedly identified Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi as a perfect replacement for soon-to-be free agent Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international’s contract at the Old Trafford outfit is due to expire at the end of June, and there is a growing expectation that the former PSG attacker will end his short-lived stint with United this summer.

As United seek to strengthen their attack, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already ruled out a swoop for Sergio Aguero, but big-money transfers for the likes of Harry Kane and Erling Braut Haaland have been mooted.

However, Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that Mauro would represent a cut-price alternative compared to the likes of Erling and Harry, both of whom would be unlikely to quit Borussia Dortmund or Tottenham Hotspur for less than £100 million this summer.

The report claims that the Parisians may be willing to let Icardi leave for €40 million (£34m) in the upcoming transfer window, although much could depend on whether the club can strike a permanent deal for Everton-owned player Moise Kean, who continues to battle the former Inter Milan skipper for the number nine spot at the Parc des Princes.

Icardi’s season has been hampered by injuries, but the Argentine nevertheless boasts a respectable tally of five goals and four assists from 15 Ligue 1 matches.

Chelsea still have chance to seal eye-catching deal for Inter Milan loanee

Inter Milan have turned down an offer of £54m from Paris Saint-Germain for Mauro Icardi, leaving Chelsea in the hunt to sign the striker.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan at the Parisians from Inter and the French side want to keep hold of him after netting 12 goals in 20 Ligue 1 matches and scoring 20 times in total during his short stint with the club.

Serie A club are open to selling him, but are holding out for a big asking price of £62.7m and are unwilling to budge, reports the Sky in Italy.

The Parisians’ offer was £44.7m up front and £8.9m in instalments based on Mauro’s future performances, but Inter were not interested, with the star under contract until 2022.

Chelsea are looking to add to their side this summer, with Frank Lampard keen to expand his attacking variants and a move for Icardi has been mooted.

Inter rejecting the Parisians’ advances keeps their hopes of signing him alive, but whether they’re willing to splash over £60m on the forward in the current economic climate is yet to be seen.

The Argentina international has a stunning goal-scoring record at Inter, netting 111 times in 181 matches for the Milanese club and was named captain back in 2015 at just 22-years-old.

However, Antonio Conte made it very clear he didn’t see Icardi as the main man when he arrived as Nerazzurri manager, as he signed Romelu Lukaku and handed the new acquisition Icardi’s number 8 shirt.

Icardi has also been mentioned with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal in the past, but neither are likely to rekindle their interest in him this summer.

Serie A giants chasing swap deal for Arsenal captain involving on-loan forward

Arsenal could be handed the chance to sign Mauro Icardi as a direct replacement for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the latest reports in Italy.

Mauro is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world, but his relationship with Nerazzurri turned sour last year, prompting them to strip him of the captaincy before sending him on loan to Paris Saint-Germain.

Icardi has continued his prolific scoring record since switching to France, but doubts remain over whether the Parisians will sign him permanently.

If he is not bought by the French side, it is extremely unlikely that he will be re-integrated into the Nerazzurri setup, meaning there could be a scramble for Mauro’s signature.

And according to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato), that could present an opening for the Gunners to make a marquee signing – but it’d come with a catch.

The Milanese newspaper states that Inter would offer Icardi to North London only if they could get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in return.

Pierre-Emerick is also being linked with a move away from his current sid, despite a fearsome reputation for goalscoring – with the Gabonese star’s contract expiring at the end of next season.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund striker may have to be sold to avoid Arsenal losing him for free – a situation they found themselves in with Aaron Ramsey last year – and a transfer across London to Chelsea has been suggested.

Manchester United are also keen on keeping him in the Premier League, although they will face competition from mainland Europe, where Antonio Conte’s side are heavily linked.

Ex-Inter attacker Mauro Icardi subject of summer offer from Chelsea

Chelsea brought in no players during the January transfer market, despite having their two-window transfer ban lifted.

Although, the west London side did announce the landing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax on a pre-contract agreement that will see the player join in June.

But it was a striker that the Blues were said to be on the hunt for in the winter window as manager Frank Lampard sought reinforcements.

Tammy Abraham has been the star man up top for his side this season, but Lampard was understood to be wanting quality competition and support for the Englishman.

Olivier Giroud has stepped up to the challenge in recent matches whilst Abraham has been struggling with injury.

The Frenchman netted in Chelsea’s win over city rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday to keep his hopes of a UEFA Euro 2020 spot alive.

But, according to FC Inter News, the Blues are considering a summer bid for Argentina international Mauro Icardi.

Icardi is currently on loan at the Parisians, and it’s a possibility that the French side will opt to make the move permanent.

However, the report claims it could be a ‘fiery summer’ because of the interest surrounding the player.

Inter are said to be keen to sell the Argentinian forward and they are supposedly not short of suitors.

It’s claimed that Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the situation as they begin to plan for life after former France international Karim Benzema.

Juventus are also believed to be interested in Icardi and could poach the 27-year-old star from their closest Serie A rivals.

The Blues could face a bidding war if the club retain their reported interest in Icardi come the next transfer market.

Chelsea rekindle long-standing interest in 19-goals PSG striker

Chelsea are reportedly monitoring forward Mauro Icardi’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain as the club weigh up a summer transfer.

Icardi, who is owned by Inter Milan, sign for PSG on an initial loan deal last summer and the French giants have the option to make the move permanent for around £54.4m.

However, the Argentine striker would have to ‘endorse’ the move and the Blues are among the teams considering an official approach if the transfer falls through.

Icardi and agent and wife Wanda Nara reportedly would not be against going back to Italy but a return to Nerazurri looks unlikely.

In an interview with Chi magazine, Wanda admitted: “I don’t know if next year we will live in Milan or Paris. In football you never know what will happen.”

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are said to have taken note of the star’s situation, with Real Madrid and Juventus also keeping tabs on developments.

Icardi has been in superb form in the French capital, with 19 goals in 28 games this season.

But he was left on the bench in his side’s first leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the UCL last-16 and that decision could force him to rethink his long-term future at the Parc des Princes.

Reports suggest the Parisians are almost certain to activate their option to buy Icardi, with the player seen by sporting director Leonardo as the long-term replacement for Uruguayan star Edinson Cavani, who looks set to leave the French side when his deal runs out this summer.

Serie A giants handed Arsenal chance to land No.9 striker but star snubbed move

Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has rejected a switch to Arsenal after Inter Milan attempted to offer the centre-forward in an exchange deal for Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports in Italy.

Nerazzurri manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Mauro no longer had a future at the club and the Serie A side are open to offers for the player.

Inter are also planning to raise funds in order to get closer to matching Manchester United’s £90m asking price for the Belgian star Romelu Lukaku.

The Serie A giants’ latest bid for Lukaku is £54 million but that has been turned down by United.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Gunners were offered the chance to land Icardi but the 26-year-old rejected a potential switch to the Gunners as he doesn’t want to move to London.

The report also states that Icardi is holding out for a move to Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus but his agent have told the Italian champions that a deal needs to be in place by August 10 or Mauro will pursue alternative options.

Speaking about the star’s future earlier this week, Antonio said: ‘Icardi is not part of our plans.’

‘That’s the reality at the moment and the club have been clear about this. Nainggolan is out as well. He’s here with us on tour but nothing has changed.’

Meantime, Arsenal are showing a keen interest in Juventus talent Moise Kean, According to the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old striker, who scored seven times in 17 matches for his Italian club during the 2018-19 campaign, has been linked with a transfer away from Turin in recent days.

Chelsea handed big boost in their pursuit of No.9 deadly striker

Chelsea transfer target and Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has been informed by Inter Milan that he isn’t in their plans for next campaign.

According to a sports TV channel Sky Sports, Inter Milan have made it clear that Mauro will not be a part of their roster for the 2019/20 term, along with Belgium international Radja Nainggolan.

The report states that Italian giants Juventus board are keen on the forward, whilst Chelsea have been strongly linked with Icardi this year.

Mauro was stripped of the captaincy at Nerazzurri midway through the last term and dropped from the team for several weeks, after falling out with the club management.

Manager Antonio Conte has now taken over at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and one of his first jobs has been to tell Argentine striker that he will not be in his roster next season.

The Blues are currently under a two-window transfer embargo imposed upon them for breaching rules. However, they are still able to land players, the only issue being that they’d be unable to play for them until the 2020/21 term.

Meantime, Championship outfit Reading have reportedly entered the running to land versatile Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu this summer transfer window.

Reliable journalist Courtney Friday shared the information on social media, claiming the Royals are interested in the teenager’s services ahead of the new campaign.

Frank Lampard confirmed in his first press conference in Japan that Ampadu hadn’t travelled with the team because he’s looking at the possibility of the player going out on loan to receive regular minutes.
