Man Utd boss makes decision on futures of several out-of-favour players

Manchester United trio Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams and Daniel James are all attracting attention during the January transfer market, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to retain their services rather than let them head out on loan.

Chances have been limited for the three stars this season, with James featuring in the most Premier League games (6), but Brandon only on one and Lingard yet to turn out in the division so far this campaign.

With the Red Devils second in the top-flight and playing well, opportunities don’t seem likely to crop up any time soon, but Ole knows it is a long and busy campaign, with injuries sure to happen.

Southampton have made an initial approach for Brandon, reports the Telegraph, but the Red Devils have turned it down as they want to keep hold of him.

While a transfer for any of the three players isn’t completely out of the question, it is the Norwegian’s preference to keep hold of all his players and have them prepared to take part whenever required.

‘This season is going to be about the squad and rotation and to have the right players playing at the right time,’ said the head coach.

‘We have seen so many injuries, the schedule has been so hectic. I think we have been quite good at rotating. That has been standing us in a good stead.’

The club do indeed have a very busy schedule, with eight matches in total over January, as the Red Devils compete in the Premier League, EFL Cup and FA Cup, before beginning their Europa League campaign next month.

Newly-appointed PL rivals boss targets Man Utd attacker

Sam Allardyce is reportedly hoping to tempt forward Daniel James away from Manchester United and to West Bromich Albion on loan in January, in spite of the Wales international getting back into his side’s starting XI of late.

The 23-year-old attacker has been in-and-out of the Red Devils team over the last 18 months but has started in several Premier League games.

However, other Premier League clubs are still confident that they might be able to lure the flying winger away from the Old Trafford outfit with the promise of much more regular senior team action, with James still only featuring in five league matches this campaign.

The Daily Star report that Big Sam wants to take James to the club and boost their fight against relegation after the English head coach took over from Slaven Bilic earlier this month.

Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Leeds United are all linked with the former Swansea ace as well and will be prepared to make a move if United do make him available.

The Yorkshire outfit have tried to sign Daniel twice before and came close before he switched to Old Trafford and could have yet another go to persuade him to transfer to Elland Road.

Meantime, Manchester United have allegedly identified Norwich City defender Max Aarons as a January transfer target.

The 20-year-old full-back impressed for the Canaries in the Premier League during the 2019-20 season and was strongly linked with a transfer away from Daniel Farke’s side over the summer.

10-capped Wales international wants to stick with Man Utd

Daniel James allegedly has no intention of quitting Manchester United during the January transfer market.

The 23-year-old forward was a regular during his debut season at Old Trafford, making 46 appearances across all competitions, including 33 outings in the English top-flight.

The Welshman has only made three Premier League appearances this term, though, and could fall further down the pecking order when youngster Amad Diallo arrives from the Serie A outfit Atalanta BC at the start of 2021.

Leeds United have again been mentioned with a move for the attacker, who netted against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League towards the end of November.

However, according to a recent report from the Manchester Evening News, James is not keen on leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in January in spite of his lack of action.

Meantime, Manchester United are reportedly tempted to enter the race to sign Schalke 04 centre-half Ozan Kabak.

In spite of the poor form of the Bundesliga side, Turkey international Kabak has appeared as one of the club’s most prized assets.

That has led to the board being prepared to cash in on the 20-year-old as they plan to boost their financial position during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A report earlier this month claimed a £22m move to AC Milan was close to being finalised but ultimately a move didn’t happen.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils may be prepared to rival AC Milan and Liverpool for the centre-back’s signature.

Sam Allardyce is reportedly hoping to tempt forward Daniel James away from Manchester United and to West Bromich Albion on loan in January, in spite of the Wales international getting back into his side’s starting XI of late.

The 23-year-old attacker has been in-and-out of the Red Devils team over the last 18 months but has started in recent Premier League games against Leeds United and Leicester City.

Both England sensation Mason Greenwood and summer signing Edinson Cavani were on the bench on Saturday as Daniel started the contest against Brendan Rodgers’ side, which ended 2-2 at the King Power.

However, other Premier League clubs are still confident that they might be able to lure the flying winger away from the Old Trafford outfit with the promise of much more regular senior team action, with James still only feauting in five league matches this campaign.

Premier League rivals boss wants reunion with Man Utd winger

Graham Potter will reportedly ask Manchester United for Daniel James on loan to fire up his side’s survival fight.

Brighton chief worked with the Welsh flying attacker at Swansea — and thinks he’d be a great asset if the Red Devils let him out for badly-needed game time.

And James has told pals he’d be happy to play for Graham again as he thrived under his style in their last stint together.

The Seagulls asked about the 23-year-old in the last transfer window but he opted to remain at Old Trafford.

However, James’ chances of starts are slim and he has the UEFA Euro 2021 finals on his horizon.

Wales want to see Daniel playing more often and staying sharp for their season as he was a key part of their qualification.

The Seagulls, just above the drop area, have found it hard to score lately and Graham needs extra attacking thrust.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are also long-term admirers of Daniel, trying twice to land him before.

He has made only a handful of club matches since the summer and often plays on the right when his more effective position is the left.

The former Swan was an important man at Old Trafford last season, appearing 46 times across all competitions.

But he played just three times in the top-flight this time around, and has not at all since October 24.

In other news, Phil Jones could leave Manchester United on loan during the January transfer market with West Bromwich Albion and Derby County both in the mix to land him, according to the Daily Star.

£45,000-a-week Man Utd winger reappears on Leeds radar

Leeds United are reportedly considering a return for Manchester United attacker Daniel James in January.

He has struggled for form and playing time at Old Trafford in recent weeks, with his last appearance for his side coming against Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League last month.

Leeds have been long-term admirers of Daniel since his Swansea City days, famously having the plug pulled on a loan deal for the Welshman on deadline day in January 2019.

Marcelo Bielsa has retained a strong interest ever since and Leeds were reportedly interested in bringing him to Elland Road last summer.

Now, the Telegraph report that the club ‘may test Manchester United’s resolve’ in January, especially in light of James’ lack of senior team opportunities and the imminent arrival of £37.2m Amad Diallo, who was purchased from Atalanta in the summer.

The teenage Ivory Coast sensation will be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans from January onwards and with veteran Edinson Cavani also now in James’ path to the starting XI, a loan move across the Whites would suit all parties.

He has been a victim of his own success to a certain extent at United, having made an explosive start to his Red Devils career following a £15 million move from Swansea City in the summer of 2019.

He scored three goals in his first four games in spite of being seen as a player for the future and was heralded by United icon Gary Neville, who labelled his pace “obscene”.

But a dip in his own form and the club’s struggles under Solskjaer saw the boss overlook the 23-year-old wide attacker, who has now fallen further down the pecking order.

PL rivals want to bolster squad with capture of £15m Man United star

Everton are allegedly keeping tabs on the struggling Manchester United and Wales attacker Daniel James.

According to Football Insider, the club are weighing up a possible January swoop for the 23-year old star, with speculation continuing to grow over the forward’s future.

After a strong start to his United career, Daniel has seemingly slipped down the pecking order under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, particularly in light of youngster Mason Greenwood’s emergence.

He was strongly linked with an exit back in the summer, with long-term admirers, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United making little attempt to hide their strong interest in the winger, but a move never materialised.

It remains to be seen if they will try again, although it looks as though the Whites would potentially face competition for his signature, with Everton understood to be eyeing up a potential loan.

Sources close to the star had previously insisted that he’d only leave on a permanent deal, but there are growing questions over whether that stance may have now changed.

Daniel will know that playing regular football will be vital to his chances of shining at the European Championships next summer, and further cement his importance to Wales, meaning James could well have a decision to make when the market reopens.

Whether United would be willing to let Daniel go is another matter, although the arrival of Amad Diallo in the January transfer window, and perhaps even a resurrected interest in the England international Jadon Sancho, could maybe see them become more willing to do a potential deal.

Man Utd flop once again emerges as transfer target for Everton

Everton are considering a swoop for Manchester United winger Daniel James in the January transfer market, according to a report.

The Toffees spent big in the recent window, with midfield a key area of focus. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti recruited Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford and Napoli’s Allan, who have proved fantastic additions.

In defence, Ben Godfrey arrived from Norwich City but James Rodriguez has made the most noticeable impact on the team.

The Colombian has netted three times and assisted three other goals in seven PL appearances.

Indeed, his form has allowed forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin to flourish this season and according to Football Insider, though, Carlo has noticed a footfall in his side’s attack.

After their recent transfer outlay, though, the Toffees could look to the loan market in January to bring the Welshman in.

James has slipped down the pecking order at United, making only five appearances across all competitions this season. What’s more, he has only started three of those games.

Everton reportedly wanted to land the 23-year-old last summer but the Red Devils refused to do business. Nevertheless, they are supposedly gearing up to rekindle their interest.

The source adds, though, that it remains unclear whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would sanction the star’s move to a Premier League rival.

Elsewhere, Manchester Evening News report that Real Madrid defender and Manchester United target Raphael Varane could be available to buy this summer transfer market.

The 27-year-old is contracted to Los Blancos until the summer of 2022 and although the player has suffered from a slow start to this campaign.

He was wanted by Manchester United 10 years ago, and as recently as 2018 when the Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho was still in charge, and it appears Varane could become available in the next six months.
