Liverpool fans react on Twitter to midfielder’s move to Stoke City

Liverpool confirmed on their official website on Monday evening that midfielder Joe Allen has completed his move to Premier League rivals Stoke City.

Allen, 25, was a major signing for Brendan Rodgers back in the summer of 2012, as after the former Reds manager had moved from Swansea, he took midfielder Allen with him.  from the Liberty Stadium to Anfield.

The Welsh international was an important player under Rodgers, but seemingly wasn’t fancied by his replacement Jurgen Klopp, and Allen has now moved on to join Stoke City.

Allen’s Anfield exit comes just weeks after he proved his quality on the international stage with Wales, serving up a number of top drawer displays to help his side into the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Now, Allen is off to join Stoke and their Welsh manager Mark Hughes, potentially forming a superb partnership with Giannelli Imbula in the heart of Stoke’s midfield.

As excited as Stoke fans may be by the signing of Allen, Liverpool supporters don’t appear to be quite so keen with the midfielder’s move.

Fans took to Twitter on Monday evening to react to Allen’s exit, with many admitting they were gutted by the deal, given how Allen had become something of a cult hero at Anfield in 2016.

Others believe manager Klopp has made a mistake, as Allen still had a role to play having starred at Euro 2016, and should be in the Liverpool team ahead of Jordan Henderson.

Some simply wished Allen the best of luck at Stoke after four years on Merseyside, but it’s clear that this transfer has left many supporters unhappy.
